But one thing I know is that there was the sign of such abuse before it started becoming obvious in a relationship but those signs were been overlooked.
This is one thing I've always agreed with. There is always subtle signs which may be ignored as a "minor thing". Though there are some rare cases where there are no signs at all.
The most important thing is no matter how hard it may be, if you find yourself in an abusive relationship - flee.
