It has been a year since a man stood up against the authoritarian regime of the Chinese Communist Party and its leader Xi Jinping, now Peng Lifa known as Bridgeman or the man on the bridge was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

House China Committee Chairman Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin introduced the nomination, calling the event a story of courage and cowardice.

On October 13 last year, Mr Peng placed banners on the Siton Bridge over Beijing's bustling Third Ring Road, near the end of the communist regime's draconian 3-year Covid-19 lockdown.

The banners said “we do not want tests for covid-19, we want food, we do not want the cultural revolution, we want reforms, we do not want confinements, we want freedom, We do not want an autocrat, we want votes, we do not want lies, we want dignity, we are citizens, not slaves.”

The video of Peng's one-man protest went viral and sparked a wave of protests across China, leading the PCH to abandon closures and restrictions in December 2022.

During this weekend, many Chinese living abroad in cities around the world held rallies in front of Chinese consulates, shouting signs against the authoritarian CCP regime, calling for the release of Mr. Peng, his whereabouts remain unknown since his arrest a year ago. .
