I follow both those curation trails but I usually manually curate but at times I get busy and have full voting mana that goes to waste so I set 100% upvote on both trails only if my mana is above 98% on @calumam's trail and 99% on @vempromundo's trail. I personally agree with the manual curation just have been busy of late so use those tools to maximize my curation and not let my voting mana sit at 100%.
Ya, I don't feel there is any issue with letting your VP work. I also feel both of these trails are decent.
