I think most humans are 'matchers'. We need to see some degree of reciprocity in the people we interact with in order to continue with the relationship.
Then there are a few 'givers' who give more than they get without seeming to mind. On the other extreme there are 'takers' who only care about themselves and seek to extract the most value out of the relationship for themselves without caring about the other party.
That was a quick summary of the book 'Give and Take' by Adam Grant. He didn't go into it if i recall the book correctly, but I think even for 'matchers', it is a spectrum rather than a binary classification.
Glad to see you around. Good write-up and all the best in the competition!
