We usually hear the word egoist, or selfish, from others. They may call someone that to make him/her change the behavior. So, they kind of want the person to do what they wanted from him/her. Aren't they supporting their ego in this case ? lol

As you see, egoist is a person who wants to do the things his/her way. Of course, others should be considered as well. But ignoring your own freedom and giving it all to others is not the right thing to do. If something is shared among a few people and someone took a bit more because it's deserved, it shouldn't be called an egoism. Maybe that person knows that he/she will use it the proper way and the return will be higher for everyone.

I mean that there are situations where egoism could be useful. That's called healthy egoism. For example, if parents want to work and the child wants to play. The parents should be egoists and tell their kid that they have to work and that's a priority. So, if the parent didn't do in this situation what the kid wanted, it doesn't mean that the parent is selfish. It's a kind of controlled ego.

In psychology there are many negative aspects that should be considered positive sometimes because the priority maybe more important than ethics !

For example there is a healthy carelessness that could be also a form of egoism !

That's why we don't have to be always pessimistic when we see a negative phenomenon !

Sort:

I use to know someone who is egoistic, very egoistic I must say and it was kind of irritating those days.
I think there should be a balance in character which is not always easy.

That's for sure not easy. But, we have to understand those people who love themselves that much. Maybe their life forced them to be like that. We can't understand fully someone if we are not in their skin !

Yes, this is where people should always place themselves in another person's shoes before judging.

Most times people that turn up all strong, confident and proud are actually weak to the bone, deep down they are as fragile as an egg.

The Ego most times is a make up people wear, just to shill certain things they don't want the world to know of.

The balance is never there!

It's either you're too proud or too gentle!
Having to sit in-between is something I rarely see, fur real.

Agreed - there's nothing actuall wrong with 'ego' - we need it to operate in the world. A healthy sense of self and of 'I' is fine - it's just when it brings us, and others, unhappiness that it's an issue.

For sure. I'm glad you understand that. I hope more people do and we will have the peace in this world !

Hi @riverflows

I must say that everyone can never be pleased!

People just have to learn to accept everyone as they are, mind your business and letting others be.

It's only when a person let's another man's business bother him that hate comes in, and that's when they begin to see flaws in everything about the person.

Sometimes people ain't even egoistic, but the ones observing are just creating nuisances.

Content creation and especially of the 'influencer' kind can be pretty egotistical. I find that the best ones are pretty social and reciprocal at least at the start. Although they do tend to get kind of cliquish after becoming big but I suppose that's natural.

They've found their crew and are sticking with them rather than keeping adding new people to the mix.

Hehe, I totally understand this, and I've seen it happen like a dozen times.

That's the Ego bubble that actually needs popping if am to say...

Maybe their criterias became higher because they invested more, so they want to see what's closer to their view. I don't think that an investor should be that's controled about what he/she does with his investment. Sometimes we look for the best content to support, no matter who posted it. I'm curating myself with almost 30k hive delegated to me and sometimes it's really hard to find a content to upvote. But letting that 100% without curating is also a crime. That's why I choose those who I find posting in the time when I curate. Sometimes they post in the time when I curate. I can't be blamed for that. I can't be online always and everywhere always. Curating is also a work, so no matter how much someone invest here, he/she have always to work. Sometimes the work is perfect, sometimes it's not that perfect. We are people, we can't be perfect. We do our best and it's up to the community if it like it or not. After all there are downvotes in case we don't like something. Why to fight each other if we may just click a button.

Yes that is true

Most times ego is a good thing because it keeps us in check

And if someone knows getting a bitter share of the group's pie will help him do more for the entire group, then he should go ahead and take it

Yeah sometimes ego boost self-esteem , but we have to be disciplined so it wouldn't get to our head.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

That's for sure !

If "ego" means objective knowledge of one's own value then it is not something negative. When you begin to consider your own worth greater than it really is, when you begin to believe that everything is right for you, regardless of the needs of those around you, then you are selfish.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

For sure. There is not issue in loving ourselves and taking care about ourselves. The most important is to not break the freedom of others and to consider them as well.

Of course, that doesn't mean selfishness.

You're right @clixmoney. Ego doesn't mean jerk it just means taking control of the steering wheel and driving this personality where it must go.

Well said ! So, let's drive it the right derection to care about everyone's ego. I would say ego is an art. ☺
