Scraping Bottom

About the time I first got involved with Hive's "Legacy Chain" I actually had about 2 BTC in a wallet I'd had for a while... and it was "worth" just shy of $2,000 US.

Our native token was worth about $0.09, at the time.

Had I hung on to the 2 BTC, it would have turned into almost US $200,000. Sadly, I ended up having to sell it, so I could pay some taxes.

By comparison, if I had invested here, I would still have approximately the same value, all these years later.

I really did think this whole decentralized blogging thing was going to be "the next big thing." I loved the idea of there being no company to go bankrupt and shutter my content, and I loved the idea of being able to receive crypto as micropayments... seemed far more interesting and promising than ad revenue sharing.

Of course, hindsight is a marvelous thing...

If there's a personal lesson to be learned here, it is perhaps that whenever I think something sounds like a really good idea, I should run in the opposite direction.

Conversely, if I hear of an investment that leaves me wondering "why would ANYONE care about that?" it's likely the time where I should go all-in.

As we gradually come towards the end of the year 2025, I find myself wondering whether we are currently scraping bottom, or whether we're just somewhere as part of a pervasive and long downward slide to pretty much... nowhere.

I don't have a working crystal ball, alas... so I don't know, I just hope better times will be ahead.

In a few days, it will be Thanksgiving, here in the USA. There's much to be grateful for, even though times are difficult... and I guess it behooves us to look outside the borders of the Cryptosphere to find that gratitude!

Thanks for coming to visit, and do leave a comment if you feel so inclined! Engagement matters!
