Doing Things "Nicely" and "Properly" Takes Time!

One of my personal traits might be best described as a desire to "do my best" at whatever I undertake.

If we consider something like Hive — or perhaps any journal — I feel that if I were to undertake such a venture, I would only do so if I could follow my own version of "doing it properly."

Of course, "properly" likely has different meanings, for different individuals!

Consider This:

I have determined that I am going to focus most of my Hive efforts in 2024 on building my POB token balance, and staking whatever I can.

There might be many different ways to do so.

The "proper" way to do so is to generate content that might actually have some value to readers — entertainment, learning, informative — and then post it directly from the community, to support the community I am investing in.

In my limited little world, going around wildly "tag spamming" in all directions and trying to "milk the system" for all its worth does not fit within the parameter of doing things "properly."

Today, I am actually writing my first post from the "proofofbrain.blog" front end, instead of "proofofbrain.io" which I have previously used.

I just wanted to test it out for usability, features and so forth... just to see how it works. I've never been a huge fan of ecency; ecency based sites seem to have a lot of features, but often end up lacking in stability and uptime.

To wit, I just had to attempt to upload an image several times before it actually showed up. Whereas decentralization is a wonderful thing — at least on paper — it often creates "under-resourced" systems because so many people are working on their own and are stretched too thin to take care of everything.

But getting back to properly and nicely, it takes extra time! Actually formatting posts and using photos that "fit" the text, grammar and spell-checking everything takes time.

It takes time to make sure all your typos have been removed, and it takes time to use (at least SOME!) tags that actually help with content discovery, not just with putting a couple of tokens in your pocket.

In our "hurry up" world, such attention to detail is most often dismissed as "too time consuming," yet few people hesitate to complain when something isn't presented or working "properly!"

Ironic, don't you think?

Anyway, I am getting ready to start my 2024 journey in the Hive Community... and even that takes time, because I'm not prepared to just "plow forward without thinking."

Maybe it's slow this way, but I'm OK with that!

Thanks for visiting my blog... and please do leave a comment, since engagement is the lifeblood of thriving communities!

It's very true what you are saying here, and I totally agree with you. Consistent good effort. Plus, your cat is adorable. I love black cats and have always found that they have the most kind and entertaining nature.
