Declaring My Creative Reset Day — November 21st 2021

Let's Reset...

Hello!
.

I recently had a great conversation with @rusty-jernigan that was a follow-up to our first attempt at recording a podcast where I confessed that the way I have been using my free time has really not been working for me.

What I've been doing recently in my free time is playing a lot of online chess on chess.com and not a whole lot of the other creative activities that I love. I've come to a crossroads where I am realizing I want to shift my focus and start building some discipline with content creation again.

Back in 2017, I used blogging on STEEM posting original poetry daily as a method of building a creative habit. It ended up being quite powerful and even equipped me to be able to coach others on how to be consistent and unstoppable when it comes to creating and sharing original work!

Hitting Reset
.

Long story short... I am declaring today, November 21st 2021 my "Reset Day!" This blog is a tangible manifestation of my intention to be creating and sharing on a daily basis.

I am not sure that I will publish a blog every day as I don't want to flood the blockchain... 😂

However, I plan to dedicate at least 30 minutes every day to working on a creative activity that leads to content existing in a shareable form.

.

I have several major projects that are top-of-mind at the moment:

  1. Write poetry and prose to match with Deep Dream Generator images, of which I have a huge backlog — post them as blogs here on HIVE.

  2. Record and edit podcasts with @rusty-jernigan and post them on various platforms including HIVE

  3. Get back into creating "beat vidz" — abstract visualizer video companions to music tracks

  4. Continue fiction world-building "Vek" with my friend @ethanaphex

  5. Eventually start live-streaming various things again.

.

I'm going to start small, work daily, and go from here.

It all begins from this blog that declares today my Creative Reset Day!

Thanks for reading and I hope you all are doing well :-)

Daniel

Hey Mate.

Glad to see you're still creating. Given that it's Thanksgiving, I thought I'd drop by Hive to say "Hi" to some old friends. Speaking of Thanksgiving, never forget that you were endowed with a gift that is the envy of many and the provenance of few ... words. In the ups and downs and long-way 'rounds of making a living as an artist, never lose sight of the fact that at least you've got something to work with. Many don't.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Quill

Sounds like a great idea. At first just talk freely. Don't even choose a topic. I noticed you have a tendency to spend a lot of energy to perfect things first before publishing but that shouldn't delay starting. Just start talking together and I bet music will come out.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Beware of snakes? Now where would one find a sign like that? 🤔

Best of luck on the creative reset and I hope you can find the time to get all those projects out in the open! You're gonna need some !PIZZA :)

Beware of snakes? Now where would one find a sign like that? 🤔

Lol, it was down at the lake/hiking trail near where I used to live in McKinney, TX. Supposedly copperheads and other poisonous snakes are native but I don't think the chances are very high of encountering one at all. Bit overkill to make a permanent sign about it, always found it pretty humorous.

Thanks for the well-wishing and engaging with this post @brandt ^_^

I really feel what I need the most currently is to build back a habit of producing some creative content daily. Generally, when I cultivate that habit, the bigger things I want to work on naturally get done over time.

Hope you're doing well! Peace for now

I'm usually pretty good about writing every day, whether that be in my notebook or on my laptop… but I have trouble with being consistent about posting any of it online. My backlog is insane. I wouldn't wish the editing thereof upon my worst enemy :D

Have some !PIZZA because...

I've had (and sometimes even now) times like this when doing creative activities feels more like work than being refreshed. Maybe, there's still something brewing even in the middle of doing nothing :) But I'm glad that you're getting back now with a plan to execute.
