When we look around us these days, we see evidence all around us that we really have very little control over what happens.
Sure, we can vote. But once the leaders get into positions of power - do they really listen to us?
Sure, we can sympathize with many people around the world - but do we truly make an impact?
I've had so many discussions in the past week about the travesties of the world. Ukraine? Of course! But, is that all? No. It's definitely taken center stage because of the enormity of the situation and its ability to affect the entire world. But the enormity of that situation can be very overwhelming..
And I find myself asking this question: What can I really do?
This can be a very dangerous question.
You can take the perspective of people who say, "I'm all the way around the world - WHAT can I possibly do to help? Very little, so I won't do anything."
You can take the perspective of people who say, "I MUST do something! Anything!" and so they try to do so much, that they actually do very little. (I'm sure you know these types of people. They mean well, but they spin their wheels so much that they have less impact overall)
I've been in situations where I've raised money and given to charities - only to find out that the majority of the money raised went to corrupt leaders who mismanaged money. How often does THAT happen? Countless thieves who capitalize on the tender hearts of millions who want to help - only to see their money line the pockets of fat cats while the hurting go without.
Here is my challenge for you.
Find SOMEONE to help. An individual. (or many individuals)
Know where your money is going: Buy food. Buy powerbanks. Pay for petrol. Pay for travel expenses...
Then you KNOW who you're helping, how you're helping, and making a REAL difference in the life of someone!
So if you're feeling helpless - BECOME A HELPER.
If you're feeling powerless - ACT and use your power to impact others.
Trust me - you will become VERY significant in the lives of those around you.
It can be VERY very easy to focus on the BIG situations of the world that is playing 24/7 on the media channels. and they ARE important. BUT I BEG OF YOU... don't forget about the REST of the world that is hurting. You do not have to look far to find people to help.
You will absolutely find people IN YOUR VICINITY that can use help.

We all have gaht someone we can actually help, the challenge comes from us believing we are actually capable of helping out because most times, we think we cannot help except when we are filled and we never gets filled so invariably, we end up not helping

This is very true. One can ignore but it will haunt an individual. I am in this category. We make mistakes, true! But the most important thing is to always pick ourselves up and do better. Talking about helping, you are a woman who has been a blessing to many including myself and the people in my community.
Only if we could see through our minds, it would have been easy to make some decisions in life. A lot of things are truly beyond our control when we can't reach out to people directly, the intermediary sometimes ends up not fulfilling his or her end of the bargain.
It shouldn't be like that because heaven is watching.

So well said Dreem, I find the world so much more divided each and every year. There is a constant push and pull between sides and people nowadays it feels if you think a certain way or support something you instantly get labelled.
I feel gone are the days of talking things out and having a productive conversation rather than a spewing argument that gets us nowhere.
However, that is the difference I find here rather than in my personal life I can talk about things and have open conversations with so many and not either get attacked or shunned for the way I think. I'm always open-minded so just because I think of something one way doesn't mean I'm so locked into it that I can't listen to others' perspectives or have my mind changed for the better.
And most of all I see a real community here of folks that want to help, it doesn't always have to be monetary even though most of the time that is what it is with so many struggling to get by or make ends meet. But even something as simple as providing someone with a place to feel welcome or a friendly comment can go a long way in this day age with so many hurting and feeling alone.
Thanks for always being an amazing person here and making others feel happy and welcome you do incredible things here and are an inspiration for so many of us.

This is one of the beautiful posts I've come across recently.. This is actually thought provoking and to be honest, it pierced through me deeply.
Not that I have not been doing all these though, infact, I derive joy in helping people around me. I'm actually not feeling powerless but I often tend to feel so powerful after helping these people.
Thanks so much for the challenge.. This is just telling me that I need to do more and God helping me, I will definitely do more. Just hope the resources will be there to do all these because that's the major setback I do have.

Yes indeed it’s very easy to think is so many situations ohh what can o do that has an impact I am only one person
But if everyone was to do something even if one it’s own a very small thing all together it becomes huge

I think what so many people don't realise is that it is often the little things that people could be doing that mean so much to others... like offering a helping hand to that stressed Mom who is struggling to pick up her kids from school, doing a shop for an ill friend, keeping your kids' good seconds to hand on to someone who needs it for their own family, offering to help someone to service/fix their car or broken fence, to babysit their kids so they can get a night out with their partner. Touching base with your friends who live alone to make sure they are ok, giving someone that peptalk or lift when they need it most. If you are at a loss as to what you can do yourself, you can also always donate care packages to the homeless or even support your local homeless shelter or community foodbank regularly. There are so many people in genuine need of a little love and support in our local communities. We don't need to look far to find them. But if we are able to help further afield too, then that is something we should consider doing as well. !LUV !ALIVE !PIZZA
