Rankings are not only dependent upon the inflation but also many other points and one of the most significant points is who is powering up and who is powering down the stake. If somebody above you powers down the stake as it was witnessed in the last weeks statistics, then obviously your rank is likely to change. There could be many other considerations too.

yeah, sometimes you lose the rank but the satisfaction of giving out is more than anything else.
anything else? I can think of some other things that definitely satisfy me...
