Here in the interior of Brazil, more precisely in the southern region of Paraná, there are several legends of ghosts, which we hear around a bonfire, drinking the famous chimarrão and these are the stories that keep our folklore rich, interesting and alive, things that they didn't let us sleep at night.
The first horror stories and legends from the countryside I heard were mostly told by family and friends, stories that wouldn't let us go out or sleep peacefully at night, especially the werewolf stories on Lent nights, not to mention that I live nearby of the cemetery.
But the first legends were in fact not just scary stories, they were stories that narrated the lives of residents in the past, with time they were passed on by word of mouth, things that are told to this day and that have been greatly modified over time.
There are legends that are told in very different ways depending on the location, a good example is the legend of the snake from the bottom of the Iguaçu River, this legend is not only about the city where I live, which is São Mateus do Sul, but also about our dear city neighboring União da Vitória that tells the same story in a slightly different way, as well as other cities that follow the riverbed of the Iguaçu River.
If we search in depth we will see several legends of localities here in the interior, true or not, one thing is certain, legends always fascinate us, frighten and captivate our imagination, not to mention that we always pass on the stories and legends to other people.
Aqui em no interior do Brasil, mais precisamente na região sul do paraná, existem varias lendas de fantasmas, que ouvimos em volta de uma fogueira, tomando o famoso chimarrão e são essas histórias que mantém nosso folclore, rico, interessante e vivo, coisas que não nos deixavam dormir a noite.
As primeiras histórias e lendas de terror do interior que eu ouvia eram contadas principalmente pela família e amigos, histórias que não nos deixavam sair, nem dormir em paz a noite, principalmente as histórias de lobisomem nas noites de quaresma, sem contar que eu moro perto do cemitério.
Porém as primeiras lendas de fato não eram apenas histórias assustadoras, eram histórias que narravam a vida dos moradores antigamente, com o tempo foram passadas de boca em boca, coisas que são contadas até hoje e que foram muito modificadas com o passar do tempo.
Tem lendas que são contadas de jeitos bem diferentes dependendo da localidade, um bom exemplo é da lenda da cobra de baixo do Rio Iguaçu, essa lenda não é apenas da cidade onde eu moro que é São Mateus do Sul, mas também da nossa querida cidade vizinha União da Vitória que conta a mesma história de uma maneira um pouco diferente, assim como outras cidades que seguem o leito de Rio Iguaçu.
Se pesquisarmos a fundo veremos varias lendas das localidades aqui do interior, verdadeiras ou não, uma coisa é certa, as lendas sempre nos fascinam, amedrontam e fazem cativar nossa imaginação, sem contar que sempre repassamos as histórias e lendas para outras pessoas.
