BIBLE TEXT:
Acts 8:9-13
KEY VERSE:
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
(Galatians 3:1)
COMMENTARY:
Dearly beloved, we are going to look at a very deep subject which many people are experiencing or even involved in but do not know. Some who know they have this problem do not know how to get out of it. I pray that Jehovah God will open our understanding, in Jesus' name.
According to our Fire Scripture, a sorcerer called Simon bewitched the people of Samaria. The same thing is happening in our world today. People are being bewitched in families, in communities, in workplaces, in places of business, and so on.
Yet when you challenge or confront agents of bewitchment and tell them that what they are doing is wrong, they see you as the one that does not know what you are doing. Such people can be likened to the people Apostle Paul referred to when he said in Romans 1:28, "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."
A woman moved out of her matrimonial home and went to marry someone else for two years. One day, she woke up in her new husband's house to start asking what she was doing there. She left two children with her former husband and asked what happened. That strange man threatened to kill her anytime they had a quarrel. That was how she moved out of the marriage, saying that she was no longer interested.
Beloved of the Lord, things are happening. Simon of Samaria bewitched the whole city and he was doing to them what he wanted until the light of the gospel pierced the darkness of that city and he too saw that he also needed salvation.
Bewitchment makes a person commit sin repeatedly in spite of warnings. It glues its victim to the spirit of error and makes him or her suffer from mind confusion as well as spiritual blindness. Beloved, you must pray violently and kick bewitchment out of your life.
You must also be vigilant and watchful in order to identify agents of bewitchment around you. They may come in the form of friends, family members, or even colleagues at work. Beware of their actions and do not hesitate to confront them if necessary. Remember that the power of God is greater than any form of bewitchment or darkness that may try to encroach upon your life.
Let us pray: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for opening our eyes to the reality of bewitchment in our world today. We ask that you give us the strength and courage to resist it and overcome it by the power of your Holy Spirit. Protect us from all forms of evil and keep us under the shadow of your wings. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
PRAY POINTS:
Holy Ghost fire, overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
Power of the Most High, fall upon me and destroy my darkness, in the name of Jesus.
Instruments of bewitchment assigned against me, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.
Jesus, fight for me and give me victory, in the name of Jesus.
Any power compelling me to go against God, you have failed, die, in the name of Jesus.
Foundational powers of my father's house, die and leave me alone, in the name of Jesus.
My life, reject bewitchment by fire, in the name of Jesus.
