RE: My uncle, my grandmother and the labyrinthine fragments of childhood // Meu tio, minha avó e os fragmentos labirínticos da infância

This is a really great piece of writing, evoking memories of my own. Your imagery is so vivid, and your memory so clear. I had a few escapes as a child; one was into my books as I have always loved to read and the words in the pages of each book I opened would carry me away into my imagination and to a place of immense joy. When I had the need to be outside I would escape to my favourite tree, explore it's branches, climb up high and simply enjoy the vistas. And as I grew up, I would escape with the kids next door down to the gorge, to explore the valleys and rivers that run through it. Being a part of nature has always been important to me and immersing myself in it's wonders brings me great peace and restores my energy. I count myself blessed to have been raised in Africa where I was privileged to be able to experience the African bushveldt and it's many wonderous forms of life. I now live in the UK, but still like to escape into nature and the mountains as often as I can.
