There's an aspect of inspiration that only comes from getting exposure to new kinds of ideas that one hasn't encountered yet.
Do we get inspired to innovate, i.e zero to 1, or just do something that's already done in a better way, i.e 1 to 100?
It can be both. But Eureka doesn't come for the latter as incremental progress is mostly sensible, not magical.
Similarly, I think there's an aspect of innovation that only comes via stepping outside of the ordinary mind filled with half-formed ideas based on half-formed opinions from society and the noise of daily life.
An emptiness is needed for fullness to enter. However, we need input to have anything worth emptying.
We first fill ourselves with knowledge, experiences, perspectives, etc. which then and later creates space for something new to crystallize from all that raw material. In some ways, the emptying is best understood as a way to let what we've fill ourselves with settle and transform as opposed to altogether forgetting what we've learned.
At least, that's how I've come to understand the relationship between learning and insight.
Also, I've heard of individual intelligence being a reflection of cosmic intelligence and I wonder how one can tap into the latter beyond the obvious route of consuming more information from fellow individuals as an indirect way to access what could be accessed more directly provided I had the know-how, of course.
Even this consumption at least in a modern context can sometimes not get digested properly in the sense that I've consumed quite a lot of information on spirituality without having much of an outlet to process it in a way that transmutes theory into lived experience(s).
Beyond these things taking a lot of time to integrate, I think digesting what we've consumed is always severely limited if there isn't any form of active expression/practice. This is usually the missing link between understanding a concept and having it reshape how we actually move through the world.
By active expression, I mean anything that allows the theory to be tested out in practice.
In my case with spirituality, it could be via writing, conversation, teaching and practice of course, lots of it, all of which are ways that complete the circuit from passive reception to active embodiment.
Expression forces us to confront what we actually understand versus what we only think we understand, which provides the ground that reveals the gaps, contradictions, places where we're still just repeating words rather than speaking from genuine realization.
Coming back to the question of tapping into cosmic intelligence directly, I'm forming the opinion that this active expression is itself a form of that direct access to cosmic intelligence and inspiration is merely what emerges when we stop being repositories and become channels.
If true, I may just need to stop preparing to express and simply begin.
