FungiFriday: Some wild tropical mushrooms in Sumatra

Here are some mushroom catches for the #FungiFriday challenge. These were taken during mushroom walks in November 2023 and January 2025. Yes, they are typical wild mushrooms that are common in tropical areas in Asia. There are three species of mushrooms here, and one is often used as a culinary ingredient in China and Southeast Asia. What are they? Let's see.

Dacrymyces spathularia is a species of jelly fungus belonging to the family Dacrymycetaceae. The fruit body (basidiocarp) is gelatinous, and the mushroom is generally spoon-shaped, often appearing on fallen logs and bamboo fences. The mushroom is edible and is a popular dish among vegetarians in Asia. In China, this mushroom is frequently featured on a menu item known as Buddha's Delight.

Some white dwarf mushrooms are growing on a weathered wooden wall. This one looks like a species of Mycena. They have very short, curved stems topped by puffy caps. Some are white, some are coppery red.
