Before posting here on the FungiFriday community, I conducted research regarding the names of the mushrooms and fungi I found.
I discovered two mushrooms and two fungi.
But that made me pause for a second and think, "So what's the difference between mushrooms and fungi?" 🤔
Good question, right? But, do you have any insight?
If not, let me share what I learned:
Fungi refers to the main group or family. It includes molds, yeasts, and, of course, mushrooms!
On the other hand, mushrooms are like the fruit of fungi. Fruiting bodies. They're the visible part that protrudes from the ground or wood.
So, that concludes: all mushrooms are fungi, but not all fungi are mushrooms!
Cool, right?
So now, let me share what I discovered.
This week when I made two amazing discoveries here at our place. And two more at my parents' home.
First was right after the typhoon when a tiny Lepiota mushroom popped up.

It was like a survivor after the storm.
Its stem is slender and yellowish and has a cap that is a light cream with darker brown patches.

I like its center as it gives a distinct look because of its deeper brown spot.
Not far from it is the jelly ear fungus on a piece of decaying wood.

It has a soft, wiggly, and weird-looking appearance growing on that old wood.
Actually, when I see this cluster, I remember the rubber and the human ear.

That's very similar to its shape and texture.
Also, this is kinda moist but so delicate, that's why it's called a jelly-like fungi.
Then during our visit to my parents' place, I saw another mushroom quietly growing on the bridge.
Like what I shared last Wednesday during our stroll.
A cluster of splitgill mushrooms caught my attention.

It may be tiny, but its fan shapes and beautiful gills are known to be edible, so I harvested a few.

You can actually cook this with coconut milk and turn it into a delicious dish. 🤤
Then, when I wandered through their mini forest, there was this whole bunch of bracket fungi growing up on a coconut tree trunk.

Some of them reminded me of tiny clams.

Though they don't look exactly like real clams but the overall shape and the two-tone coloring give a clam-shell vibe.
What do you think? ☺️
And this is my contribution to @ewkaw's #fungifriday challenge.
Hope you enjoy!
Until my next fungi hunt...
Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 💗🌸

Did you pick any of the ear mushrooms? They are edible too :)
Really? I don't know that. Never tried eating those since then. What kind of recipe if ever you cook it?
I never cooked them as I don't find them here. But you can use them as any mushroom in soups or stir fries. There is a lot of recipes online to check.
Thanks @qurator, especially @ewkaw for the support. 🥰💖
I'm still wondering about mushrooms and fungi but coz i'm tamad to research, I didn't bother knowing. Basta alam ko is mushroom sila hahaha. And even with the explanation sa taas parang di ko pa rin talaga gets, lol
Anyways, ang dami ming nakita ah. Out of the four yong una at pang tatlo yong diko nakikita sa bakod namin. Kakainis lang coz if lilitaw man sila, only in small batch. A
