It's #fungifriday again and here's what I found

First off is a UFO. This one has a strange red center on the cap. I thought it might be a reddening lepiota but the shape is wrong.

The stem base even has red and the gills sort of look orange. After searching for hours this one still remains unidentified.

This one looks like Russula praetervisa aka the bypassed brittlegill.

Apparently they are edible but they look like so many other russula mushrooms with an acrid taste and given the amount you can find they are rarely foraged.

Here is another one in bad shape. Looks like the bugs and slugs have been chewing it up.

I tested the gills just in case to see if this might be a milk cap. But no milky beads formed thus its a brittlegill.

Here is a strange little mushroom with a black velvety stem that was growing out of wood.

I found another one during the daytime. I wish I knew what this one was, they were everywhere after the rains. I doubt they are edible as they are very tough and small.

These look like some old mower mushrooms. They are called mower mushrooms because they are mostly found in lawns.

The gills are brownish. These aren't really edible and I read somewhere that they contain a tiny amount of psilocybin but you would probably need a huge pile to get any effect. Odds are they would be loaded full of lawn chemicals too. Best leave these to get chewed up by the lawnmower.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Sort:

From what I could read you have a lot of knowledge about mushrooms dear friend @sketch.and.jam you can easily identify them. It's great that it wasn't collected and left to nourish the soil with its nutrients.
Beautiful finds, great shots, congratulations
Have a beautiful afternoon

I'm always finding new one's that I can't identify.

Thanks again @ewkaw :-)

Mushrooms grow very well.

Yeah when it rains around here all sorts of different mushrooms come out. Different types for different seasons of the year.

Interesting! Fungi is just amazing!

I seem to find new ones each year. I still have quite a few on my checklist to find that are cool looking.

mower mushrooms 😁 nice assortment. I just finished the last of the chicken of the woods in the fridge. Time to get out there foraging again 🙂

Yeah I'm going out the check for chicken this weekend. I'm hoping to find enough for making buffalo wings to freeze.
