Farming Tales | How to manage and optimize your farm

in Farming Taleslast year (edited)

Hello reader, in this guide I would like to show you how to optimize your farm, focusing on how to improve your farm management by giving you some tips, strategies, advices.

This guide aims to be used both by players who already know Farming Tales, and for new users, so I'll try to express myself simply in order to let this available for everyone.

First of all, let me give you some little tricks that may give you future advantages. Before buying FT NFTs you have to know few things:

Farming Tales Tokenomics

Farming Tales is an NFT-based play to earn game on the WAX blockchain, where each player/farmer will be able to manage his own farm. Farming Tales allows you to earn by different ways, such as: creation of new NFTs, selling farm products for SEST, staking SEST for CBIT, completing weekly tasks, trading on secondary market (AH).

SEST is the main token of the Farming Tales Metaverse, that can be earned by selling products and can be used to upgrade your farm.

CBIT is the second token of the Farming Tales Metaverse, which is used to refill your Silos and your Water Tower, respectively food and water, in order to feed the animals and to water the gardens.

AUREUS is the third token of the Farming Tales Metaverse, which can be obtained by staking SEST at the New Waxchester Bank.

How to obtain SEST

In order to shape your successful farm, you need to understand which is your budget. The key for a good growing farm is BALANCE! But, before talking about balancing your farm, let me tell you that even if you have a little budget, you will still be able to manage a successful farm, without the need to invest further!

Like I said, balancing our farm is important, because we need as much as possible basic products to complete tasks and quests, which allow us to grow faster! So, just try to diversify your farm in order to produce as many basic products as possible.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s amazing! So, who cares about budget?! We can still play to earn with a small budget! We can talk about that later.

There are several ways to earn SEST, and you can choose the best one for you depending on inventory, market prices. These methods allow farmers to understand how to earn either WAX that can be traded on exchanges like Alcor for SEST. Let’s see how.

The first method to earn SEST is the simplest one, which can be performed by everyone. Like a farmer owner, you are able to produce basic products which cannot be sold directly. These products needs to be refined in the New Waxchester, then you can sell these recipes in-game for SEST.

Another method to earn WAX is to exchange basic products for Vouchers. This action can be performed in New Waxchester at the Voucher Shop. These vouchers are tradable NFTs that can be sold for WAX on secondary market or can be used for blending animals and buildings of lower rarity into higher rarities.

WAX can be obtained by selling chests on secondary market. Chests are tradable NFTs that can be crafted in-game and require Wood, which is a basic product that can be obtained through the LumberJack. If you don’t own this special building, you can buy Wood chests on secondary market.

After these premises, we can start with advices on how to manage and optimize a successful farm. Below is a list of advices sorted by importance:

  • Minimizing Production Costs
  • Farm Upgrade
  • Task and Quests
  • Trading
  • Discord

Minimizing Production Costs

This is the first goal we have to achieve, because minimizing production costs implies maximizing profits!

You will be able to bring the production cost to 0! I’ll promise you!

There are two things to do: upgrading Silos and Water Towers and Staking SEST. Let’s see these in detail.

Upgrade Silo and Water Tower

This is the first improvement you have to perform in order to maximize your profit. Like we already said before, we need food and water, respectively for animals and plants. Both food and water can be purchased in-game and accumulated through Water Towers and Silos.

Water Towers and Silos can be refilled using CBITs (50 CBIT for water and 5 CBIT for food), and their storage depends on NFT rarity. This is an important improvement because the refill costs is always the same for all rarities, which means that if you own a common silo with a storage of 100 food or an epic silo with a storage of 200 food, you will pay always 5 CBIT to refill it. Basically this implies an halved production cost! Not bad?

Now, you may ask: Yo Logic, I have a small budget, so I can’t buy highest rarity for these NFTs on secondary, what can I do?

If you can start your farm with Epic Silo and Water Tower it is better, but you could also upgrade for free starting from common Silo and Water Tower. Let’s see how.

At the beginning, all farmers own for free common Silos and Water Towers. In order to get higher rarity NFTs, once you accumulated enough SEST, you have to go to the in-game marketplace and buy rare or epic Silo or Water Tower with SEST.

Another way is to upgrade Silos and Water Towers with Vouchers. You can craft vouchers at the Voucher Shop in new Waxchester and we need 6 rare voucher and 1 rare Silo/Water Tower to blend an epic one. You can do this on Neftyblocks website.

Staking SEST

The second important improvement to minimize the production cost is the staking of SEST. Let me remind that by staking SEST you will receive daily CBIT based on the amount of SEST you have staked. But how this works? Suppose that you stake 100 SEST and the total pool is 1000 SEST, then it means that you own the 10% of the total pool, so you will receive everyday 10% of the daily CBIT pool!

Depending on the amount of CBIT you need daily to harvest, you should stake SEST in order to cover the total amount of CBIT that you need!

Taking up the previous example, suppose that you need 20 CBIT daily in order to cover all the harvests for your farm, and suppose that everyday 100 CBIT will be distributed among all stakeholders. This means that you will get 10CBIT daily. You should stake other SEST!

You can check how many CBIT you need daily here: Farming Tales Tool, an amazing tool provided by FT team! You just need to add your WAX address.

Farm Upgrade

The next improvement concerns the farm upgrade, i.e. upgrading buildings and animals

Building Upgrade

First building to be upgraded is the Barn! Let me remind that the Barn is the storage for the products collected on your farm. Initially, all farmers have a free common Barn which can hold up to 100 products! Of course, higher barns will give you the opportunity to accumulate more products, and this will be useful for Quests and Tasks!

Higher rarity barn means that you can save woods, since you don’t have to craft chests to store more products!

Concerning the barn upgrade, you can obviously buy higher rarity barn on secondary market, or you can craft epic or legendary barns on Neftyblocks by using rare vouchers.

However, once you own a Legendary Barn LVL 1, you need a Barn Voucher to upgrade your storage. This special voucher will be craftable one week a month at the Voucher Market and allow you to blend an higher level Barn. Let me suggest you that Legendary Barn LVL 1, with a storage of 1500, is enough at the moment.

Next improvement will be the upgrade of our animal buildings, i.e. the place where our seeds and animals produce basic products! We have 4 main buildings for our farm: Coop, Geese, Stable and Garden. Better buildings means more slots for our animals and seeds! Not bad if we have not enough space in our farm!

You can either decide to buy better buildings on secondary, or you can buy common, rare and epic Coop, shelter and Stable buildings at the in-game marketplace.

Another way to obtain a common garden is completing quest at the Trader in New Waxchester.

However, once you own common buildings you can decide to upgrade them with the classical voucher mechanism throw Neftyblock blends.

Animals Upgrade

Another key improvement for a successful farm is the upgrade of our animals, that can be achieved by the voucher system. There are several recipes that allow everyone to better understand which is the best one depending on his needs. You can have a look to all recipes in the following image.

If you desire, there’s another option: you can exchange basic products for animals by completing quests at the Trader in New Waxchester.

Task and Quests

At the Trader in New Waxchester you can have a look at the current Quests, that allows you to craft common animals or common gardens. Here you can achieve higher quests like crafting special buildings like Corn Field that needs lots of basic products, for this reason you need a barn with a huge storage capacity.

There are also available quests that allows farmers to exchange some products with others! Keep an eye on this because sometimes this could be necessary for your purposes.

Trading

You can sell directly on secondary market your NFTs, but keep in mind that you have to pay fees for each transaction, so it is better to trade with other players.

Discord

If you want to improve your farm, you should consider the possibility to exchange chests or NFTs with other farmers! I suggest to join the Farming Tales Discord server in order to get in touch with the community, where you may ask for a trade with other players.

Do you know that on discord, there are events that allows farmers to make some extra SEST? For example, everyday there are lots of trivia quiz, and weekly/monthly rewards either for farm crafts and New Waxchester crafts.

On Discord you can find either auctions starting at 10000 SEST for box or special buildings like the Greenhouse! Remember that if you what to bid during the auction, your wallet must be linked with honeycomb and you must have the amount of SEST you want to bid!

More on the Farm Upgrade

Once your production cost is equal to zero, my suggest is to buy:

  • Lumberjack in order to produce Wood, which can be used for crafting Chests NFTs that you can sell or trade.
  • Greenhouse in order to produce seed boxes that can give you 3 seeds per day. You can either sell them on secondary or plat them in your gardens.

Conclusion

I hope this guide will help as many as possible of you, and remember that those methods are only a little overview on this huge Metaverse of Farming Tales! This is an Italian project running from years and it is always growing and developing new features in order to improve our experience!

I suggest you to have a look at the Whitepaper and the Roadmap to stay up to date on future developments.
