Growing is Healing

We live in a world that now recognizes Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and accepts it more than ever before. This alone is a reason to celebrate, but then add in the medical advances in treatments, the acknowledgment and practice of psychedelic assisted therapy and the breakthroughs in education in health and nutrition, the future is promising.

One way to help with those suffering from ptsd, especially combat veterans, is to grow a plant. Seems simple enough right? Well, why over complicate things? The reason this treatment sounds so promising to me is because growing a plant requires, time and patience, but also love and attention. You have to nurture the plant, feed it, water it, take care of it. Some vets, for good reason, have a tough time integrating back into society after witnessing so much death and destruction, so it only makes sense that the cure may be to care for something and preserve it.

I think cannabis is a great plant to work with if you want to test this theory out.

Here’s a poem i wrote for my wife today:

TREES OF SILENCE

Alone she walked, or at least she thought.
Alone she thought, in silence so soft.
But all around were sounds so loud, listening in so very proud.
You see the trees were there, holding space to share,
And the breeze through the air for the leaves to care.
For all around was calm and chaos, everything and nothing.
All is one

And lastly, it's not just people who enjoy grass, so why not put up a pic of a cow enjoying some grass as well, eh?

Interesting proposition. You’re probably onto something here. Wouldn’t be surprised if scientific studies concurred (and also got me thinking would be similarly interesting to have those imprisoned growing plants, as could play a conducive part in their rehab… aside: recalling story about some prisoner who got ahold of seeds and had the whole prison grounds filled with hundreds of cannabis plants, lol.)

Reminds me of the book, The Power of One, where a lucky prisoner is allowed to grow and maintain the prison gardens, and yes, same same but different. I’ve also heard of animal programs, like taking care of cats and stuff in prisons
