Have you ever been a victim of digital pet peeves? those annoying situations that occur when using technology especially on smartphones or computers. These situations can be so frustrating to the extent that you would regret the consistency of these messages, emails or adverts whenever they occur.
This has gotten so bad to the extent that I remember a situation I read online where a guy ordered from a company to buy pizza from a popular restaurant, apparently when the restaurant got his number to carry out the order, they automatically registered his number to receive their numerous adverts as a means of promotion for the company. Sometimes, these companies or organizations overdo things to the extent that people get frustrated this is why that person got frustrated to the extent that he took them to court. The case was not a small one but with good lawyers and a good Defense he won the case and got a lot of money from that. If only all other companies or organizations would learn from this act.
Some Common digital pet peeves includes: spam emails, unwanted group Messages, constant notifications, clickbait headlines, endless ads popping up, autoplay videos, endless cookie pop ups etc. I have been a victim of all of these, as a frequent user of the internet and surfing various websites, most of these issues come up. Sometimes it is a part of greed, people wants to make more money through ads and other stuffs that they infect their websites with these Peeves that leaves their consumers frustrated.
I belong to a WhatsApp group that was created for educational purposes and to pass messages across whenever we had classes or there was a change in time schedule. Controlling and organizing human beings happen to be a difficult task because some people will definitely comply to rules and regulations, while others will deliberately cause trouble and do unusual things to frustrate the group or people.
So, in this group we all agreed that no one should post things outselide class issues, but overtime, there was a lady who uses the platform to push religious matters, she would posts Bible passages, summaries, prophetic declarations and links to their churches website. She was apprehended by the class with the points that there are different religious groups on this platform, some are Christians, Muslim, atheist, traditionalist and so on, but she was so adamant and claimed that everyone should post whatever they believe in, for an educational group that is not a religious one. Immediately we left school, I left the group. Even as a Christian, I respect peoples spaces and not tamper with laid down rules, a Christian should be disciplined to uphold values and lead right.
Another digital pet peeve that has been very annoying for some time now is when you want to download a video from website they automatically redirect you to other other websites that you have no knowledge about. If you are not careful, you would be a victim of phishing links, clicking unnecessary sites and all that. There are some sites you would want to download videos or musics but it will take you minutes before you could actually download that particular movie this has become so frustrating because it's consumes time, energy, and data but apparently they do not care because all they care about is making money from these websites and advertisement.
Again, the tons of messages I get from network providers is really annoying because in Nigeria here we have major networks like MTN, Glo, airtel and so on. Below, I will paste a screenshot of my message inbox, although prior to this blog I had deleted many messages that comes from these network providers. They keep advertising various products and services that they render to people but I believe they can do better by updating their website and use making people visit them whenever they need new information and stuff.
In conclusion, everyone has definitely been a victim of digital pet peeves because as long as you surf the internet, you have a mobile phone or laptop, computers and stuff, you would definitely experience these issues that arises.

I can well relate to these pet peeves. Talk of the redirecting to another site when you want to download something, very annoying. I had to give up downloading something recently because of that and found another site to do it. The messages from network providers as well, that's another. I constantly keep on deleting those.
