Minimalism Enhances Productivity and Comfort

“Simplicity involves unburdening your life, and living more lightly with fewer distractions that interfere with a high quality life, as defined uniquely by each individual.” -Linda Breen Pierce, 1947.

The beautiful concept of minimalism is achieving more by acquiring less. This is the main reason I practice minimalism in all areas of my life—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I am very careful about what I allow into my space because clutter hinders productivity. This is a point most people aren't aware of.

One of the reason I practice digital minimalism is because I get distracted easily. It is because of this I don't have certain apps on my phone, not because I do not find them useful, but because I realized they are a waste of space.

Speaking of space, I don't have any game apps on my phone. I rarely play games, so there is no need for them. My previous phone only had a crossword puzzle, which I played whenever I'm nervous.

When it comes to avoiding distractions, Facebook and TikTok are the apps I freeze most of the time. It is difficult to avoid some content on Facebook, as you not only see post from followers but also see posts from friends without visiting their pages. The controversy from bloggers and the inhumane responses from netizens to certain posts has also make me avoid Facebook.

At the moment, I do not see any apps I should uninstall, but I do have some emails I need to unsubscribe from, and phone numbers that need to be deleted.

If I want to minimize my screen time, I will start with WhatsApp because that's where I spend most of my time, followed by TikTok, YouTube, Netflix, and Facebook. There are days I don't use these apps at all, and other days I spend over eight hours on them.

As I said earlier, the benefit of minimalism is to gain more by acquiring less. Doing the few things I mentioned in this post saves a lot of phone space, which helps the phone browse faster and saves battery. It also enhances productivity by saving the user's time and minimizing stress. Digital minimalism helps one focus on more important things with little to no distractions. It is something everyone should put into practice.

I do Facebook a lot, but it's usually in between my actual job cause after then, I'm usually trying to catch some sleep.

But i can't agree any less with the benefits you stated for minimalism especially stress reduction and increased productivity.

I'm glad you can relate. Minimalism is good.
