Finding the cure

Last Sunday, while I was on call, I lost about 10 dollars in cryptocurrency after copying the destination wallet address incorrectly. It’s not a lot of money in general, but in Cuba it represents an amount that helps with daily expenses.

As if that weren’t enough, I also came down with a really annoying cold, which only made that day’s bitter experience worse. To top it off, we had several surgical cases that day—a rather unusual event since Sundays are usually very quiet at the hospital.

In short, it wasn’t my day, and in the end I had to swallow my imaginary tears and keep going with what I had.

By Monday, we received the information that we could withdraw cash at a bank downtown. We went there very early, but the line was longer than a Dostoyevsky novel.

Luckily, since Café Catedral (a place I’ve already shown you) is near the bank, there was no choice but to have a coffee there.

This time I ordered a simple espresso, but even though it was simple, the preparation was exquisite. The flavor and aroma revealed the quality of the bean, which, from what I noticed, was of the highest quality. I added a bit more sugar than usual, and I was right to do so, because I felt that this drink helped relieve the cold symptoms I had.

I also took the chance to have a frappé lemonade, since the shift that day was much better than the previous one. Besides, lemon, vitamin C, and a cold—it sounds like both cure and illness at once.

Later, I had another espresso. That day I was ready to drink coffee endlessly, but of course, I had to take a break, otherwise sleep would be hard to catch, and remember I had just had a pretty intense shift.

In the end, even though the cold came back with force later, at that coffee moment its effects were barely felt. Surely there’s a scientific explanation involving xanthines, but that’s content for another time.

A parody from a fictional book

I totally get it—it happened to me a while back when I was going to pay for a coffee. I was exchanging Hive for bolivars at my usual currency exchange, but I sent it to the wrong person, and that was all I had in my wallet. I felt really stupid, but luckily I always have my emergency contact, who paid for my coffee right then and there.
Despite the discomfort and tough times, it's always a good excuse to enjoy a nice cup of coffee

Well , your experience was worst than mine, 'cause at least i didn't need that money immediately. Wow, you must feel so embarrassed.

Uf... Lamento hayas perdido ese dinero. En tiempos como estos eso duele....

Duele muchísimo, pero ya es borrón y cuenta nueva
