Revisiting Our Coffee Trees In The Countryside

It was last year when I wrote that "Coffee is the part of the family" at the celebration of the International Coffee Day. From generations to generations, it would never be gone in our daily rituals. A gem that has been passed down, continuously cultivated, and practiced in every houses at our locals.

As promised from my previous blog, I would show the coffee trees in our backyard. It took me so long to finally published this and I apologize for that. I have found some time to roam around our place during holidays when the semestral break have started. It was a bliss to finally breath some fresh air after months of staying in the city, and taste a bit of freedom again from the hustle and bustle of life just for a while.

If you're like me, who isn't much of a social butterfly type, you'd surely yearn for a peaceful surroundings. In which, you can enjoy all the time for yourself and have the pleasure on not to force yourself to talk to people. Anyway, whom to talk with when all of your family is busy? Your only companion there was the animals passing by hunting for their food, the winds blowing the leaves of the trees, and the birds chirping everywhere most of the time. It might be boring for others, but it is wonderful to me.

But first, before having a little trip in our backyrad to revisit the coffee trees that I have missed so much, a cup of brewed coffee first to re-energize my tired and weary body from the long walk I had just to get home. It was always an ardous journey, but we're used to it since we were kids. Some people would complain of the distance, yet for us, it's just walking around the house.

Do you know the Asian squat? It's normal to do that every morning while sipping your coffee before preparing for work. The elders would talk, observe the weather, and watch their crops at the distance examining its growth. On the other side, I was just there at the corner the coffee trees from afar.

I came in the wrong timing, though. My mother harvested them the other day before I arrived. She was already drying them under the sun as a start of the process to seperate the skin from the beans, then she can roast them after. Those were the ones left, just a few. She'll pick them up when they're all ripe.

They don't grow taller. The old coffee tree at the left are a few years of age already but still the same height, it just grow branches for its new flowers to bloom and later on, bear its fruits. The ones at the right is a still a baby, but a leafy one. It would take a year or two for it to grow bigger and bear fruits.

In a few months, they'll have flowers again and have its fruits. It would be my mother's joy harvest them again, as she could save a lot of money from buying coffee in the market. I hope I can show the process of how my mother process her harvest to becoming roasted beans, to pouncing to a finer powder and brewing. It's a long process, and I can't stay there for long, so I hope someday I can make a blog about it.

That's from me today, folks. Thanks for reading my post!

So that's how a coffee plant looks in like

Yes po. Di siya gaanu kalalaki.

Oh damn, never saw an actual coffee tree before, lol. It was something I'm looking forward to. There are a lot of coffee farms around Cavite but never ever tried to visit them at least once. You definitely know I'm not a coffee drinker but surely it is a great taste. !PIZZA

Once you'll try it, you can't get it out of your system. Better not, if you can handle pulling an all-nighter. Thanks for the Pizza, tho.

How exciting to have your own coffee plants in your own back yard! Lovely pictures

Yes, it is! We're planting more in the future.

How beautiful are those plants, they are growing strong, I hope you have a good harvest :D

Hoping for that too and I hope we can plant more of them.

I would love to see the photos of how your mother processes the coffee beans, for me the most delicious thing is the smell of roasted coffee, too bad that the smells can not be sent.

As for the rest, I agree with you, being in a remote place, alone with the company of nature is really nice.

How I wish to share it here, but I always have conflict with my schedule. I don't usually stay at home, but on another city rather to study. Maybe someday, I can.

Hello happy Monday.

This is great, what fun it would be to go to your yard for me.

I would show the coffee trees in our backyard.

The photos are gorgeous, so much that they convey peace and tranquility, I have never been anywhere where they have coffee bushes, but it is in my plans, your post is excellent.

I hope you can see their trees someday. They are really awesome.

I love to see the coffee fruits on the branches of the plant. It is incredible all the process that these fruits go through to become a delicious cup of coffee. I hope you can share that process with us. I would love to have the opportunity to see it in person. Thanks for sharing this!

You're very much welcome. I'd like to share the process here for some time also. Just sadly, not just now. Their fruits are amazing. I aways love harvesting them when I'm at home.
