We took a little break from the farm and went to Melbourne. We decided to get our coffees tasted by vacation coffee and the best part was getting amazing feedback. So happy to see them all interested in trying our coffees that are all the way from India.

The friendly staff were curious to know how we produced and processed these gems.

The yeast fermented beans were fermented for 24 hours, and the strain used was Saccharomyces cerevisiae which gave a floral aroma and tropical fruity notes in the cup. It increased the complexity of the beans and the barrel fermentation had a strong soda hit.

The washed process coffee was fermented in a special and detailed way, to increase the quality and fermentation effect on the beans. The barrel fermented beans has the aroma of maple syrup.🍁

The Barista took a whiff of the two tiny samples that I handed over. Intrigued by the aromas, he decided to try the yeast fermented lot first and then the semi double aerobic washed next. It was a treat watching someone with fresh eyes getting to taste coffees from St. Margaret Estate.

They brewed in no time and gave us the feedback we much appreciated. Minutes later the head barista walked in and asked a question to know which specie the coffee was. Since he was quite experienced, he guess the coffee right. “It was ROBUSTA, wasn’t it”, he said. I smiled cheekily saying “ you got that right”. While the other two younger men glared at us having this conversation and being astonished that it truly was Robusta. They couldn’t believe it when I agreed with the head barista.

Absolutely fell in love with the minimalistic design the cafe has, everything was so dainty. The machines and beans were always in use, as customers lined at the cashier grabbing coffee for their hectic day that was about to start.

The coffee cups were unique and painted in pastle tones of green, pink, off white and blue. The cups were aesthetically pleasing to look at.

When you drink the coffee you can find a pineapple peaking right through the bottom. The pineapple is the logo of the brand. These unique details definitely makes an imprint over a customers mind.

My dad was super stoked to try out their caturra washed, which was produced in Guatemala. Tasting notes that were abundant throughout the cup was the nectarine notes and subtle hints of raisins.

They were so happy with the beans, that they complimentary gave their pins that I carried like a souvenir from that Melbourne trip.

They also served us coffees from their cafe! And it’s important as Producers to taste coffees that are already out there. Had a lot of fun with the coffee tasting and of course we would leave with a gift bag 😉

This trip to the coffee shop was indeed a new experience especially when exchanging coffees has been a new part of me. As a farmer this has always been a dream to get my coffees out in the world and being tried on by people who love coffees and have been brewing them for a living.

That’s a bit from me this week. Keep reading and engaging. I love seeing you guys being a part of my lil trip.🦘🇦🇺
