Hello, coffee lovers around the world.
Sometimes my husband and I play a game of telling each other stories about the people around us. Sometimes these stories reach our ears without us even meaning to. Some are really funny, others not so much.
But the best ones are the ones we create ourselves in a game of imagination. We might see a young woman sitting alone in a coffee shop with her laptop. Then the game begins, a game that also plays with psychology and common sense. We practically become detectives (which is how it all started).
That young woman could be a student or a journalist, depending on her age. What was she doing there? The answer depended on what she ordered. If she ordered a cappuccino, frappuccino, or café bombón, she was studying or creating.
However, if she ordered one or more espressos, she was rushing to meet a deadline for a project.
And what better place than a coffee shop to avoid distractions and get work done?
But sometimes we also just sit and observe people. We are both artists, creators, and we like to observe. Not only people, but nature in general. We find it extremely interesting how some people behave when they don't think they are being watched.
Such is the case of a man we saw daily, begging for money on the streets with a distinctive limp. One day, this man entered the "Real" cafeteria and, thinking it was empty, sat in a corner counting a wad of bills he had hidden in a bag.
When he noticed we were watching him, since our table was out of his sight, he put everything back in the bag and left at full speed: without limping.
That's one of the wonderful things about coffee shops: over coffee, people can see and/or reveal each other's true nature.

Hola, amigos del café alrededor del mundo.
Hay ocasiones en que mi esposo y yo jugamos a contarnos las historias de las personas que se encuentran a nuestro alrededor. Hay veces que las historias llegan a nuestros oídos, sin que esa fuera nuestra intención. Algunas son bien cómicas, otras no tanto.
Pero las mejores son aquellas que nosotros mismos nos creamos en un juego de imaginación. Podemos ver a una joven sentada en la cafetería, sola y con su laptop. Entonces comienza el juego, que juega a su vez, con la sicología y el sentido común. Casi que nos convertimos en detectives (que esa fue la génesis de todo).
Esa joven podría ser una estudiante o una periodista, en dependencia de la edad de la muchacha. ¿Qué hacía allí? La respuesta estaba en dependencia de lo que pidiera. Si pedía un capuchino, frapuchino o café bombón, se encontraba estudiando o creando.
Sin embargo, si pedía uno o varios expresos, se encontraba a la carrera en un deadline para entregar un trabajo.
¿Y qué mejor que una cafetería para evitar distracciones y avanzar en el trabajo?
Pero también a veces nos sentamos simplemente a observar a las personas. Ambos somos artistas, creadores y nos gusta observar. No solo a las personas, sino a la naturaleza en general. Nos parece sumamente interesante cómo se comportan algunas personas cuando no se creen observadas.
Como lo es el caso de un señor que veíamos a diarios, pidiendo dinero en las calles con una cojera distintiva. Un día ese señor entró a la cafetería “Real” y, pensando que estaba vacía, se sentó en una esquina a contar un fajo de billetes que tenía oculto en una bolsa.
Cuando notó que lo estábamos observando, ya que nuestra mesa se encontraba fuera de su vista, guardó todo en la bolsa y se marchó a toda velocidad: sin cojear.
Esa es una de las maravillas de las cafeterías, que las personas, café de por medio, pueden ver y/o muestran la verdadera naturaleza de las personas.
