Thai Starbucks

_DSF2922.jpg

A few years ago, I didn't like Starbucks cos you know, overpriced coffee and at the same time I hate that the people there are mostly noisy and the place is usually packed with people. I ate my words tho and I'm now regularly taking my daily dose of overpriced too-much-sugar coffee.

In Bangkok, there's like Starbucks everywhere and of course my spoiled little ass was happy :D. I had to go there and have @acidyo taste my favorite coffee (White Chocolate Mocha) to which it became his favorite coffee too lol. Now he asks me to order Starbucks almost everyday cos of it. I turned him into a monster.

I had my name written in Thai here as the barista probably knew (I mean I think it was obvious) that I'm a tourist. I usually say my name is "Bianca" cos cba explaining the spelling or whatever but I'm not sure what the barista wrote there lol.

Do you know what it says? lol

Great shot @acidyo

Back in the Philippines, I have my own Starbucks card to earn some stars and be able to claim free drinks once I've accumulated enough. I was gonna use it in Thailand too but they said I can't use my PH card so I availed one specifically for Thailand since I thought the mechanics would be the same. Man I was wrong.

In order for you to claim a free drink in the Philippines, all you had to have is a card (which is free registration and you only have to load money into it) and 125 stars. You can earn 1 star per 25 pesos spent - so in a few cups of coffee you'll be able to claim your free drink right away.

In Thailand, you start at the Green level which doesn't allow you to earn the stars for claiming yet. You need to be a Gold level user to be able to earn stars for it. And... to be able to be at the Gold level, you had to earn 300 stars first - after that you need to earn another 120 stars for a free drink.

That's really a lot of cups to spend just to be able to claim a free drink and compared to the Philippines, it was actually more expensive in Thailand. In one month of using the card, I was only able to get to the gold level with a few stars and not able to earn a free drink at all. :( 🤣

Oh, and I love their stuff there. They have waaay nicer bags and cups and tumblrs than in my country. I bought 2 teddy bears as a souvenir. :D

Hello @hiddenblade,
I hate loud coffee shops too. There's one at the entrance of SM Mall in Cebu City where you can drop in to have a coffee before the mall opens up at 10:00. They have huge tables and the conversations are loud, and everyone is competing with each other. It drove me crazy... so I know exactly what you mean.
That White Chocolate Mocha sounds impressive though.
Shame about the loyalty card; Yes, you would think you'd be allowed to use your Philippines card internationally...that's a point worth knowing.
It's nice to see a little bit of Thailand here today:)
Thanks for stopping by:))))

PS. I just noticed the attractive flowers at the entrance. The shop looks homely from the outside, like a nice garden setting. Strange to see a Starbucks like that. I am impressed!!!

Eeeehhh that's so annoying! I avoid coffee shops that people usually go to for meetings and such. Even cafes that are popular with students for studying are usually noisy cos all they do is chitchat instead of reviewing for their exams haha.

Yeah! I was really expecting the card is at least international and just convert the currency or whatever, would be a nice feature for sure.

Ah yeah this Starbucks is pretty nice and also located in a nice area - usually with good restaurants and hotels. They also are eco friendly in some way - They use mugs instead of the usual paper cups if you're drinking inside the store... so less waste. :D

Wow, thanks for an additional photo. That's Starbucks like I have never seen it before. I do hope more places will catch on with mugs instead of paper, worst plastic.
Thanks for this:))))

I've never tried those coffees 😕 hope to soon, poor @acidyo is going to get fat because of you, but well I understand you, sometimes we need a coffee and sweets companion 😄.

Yeah hopefully you're able to! I mean, it's really not that special, but I think you will like it if you have a sweet-tooth like me. Haha his weight is his responsibility 🤣🤣 I let him sign a waiver that I'm not responsible if he gains more weight lol

🤭🤭🤭😉

Hello Hidden Blade, It's cool to see one's name written in different characters. Thailand is attentive to small details so it's nice to see their Starbucks reflect that.

I had no idea the coffee rewards cards are different in every country. It's good to know it's more convenient and cheaper earning a free drink in the Philippines.

I used to find their americano quite stronger than other brands so I avoided going to Starbucks and would support our local brands but a friend recently gifted me coffee beans and I have developed an appreciation for them.

I bet the coffee there is better than the one here. These big chains always bring us garbage compared to overseas 😥

Really? I don't know about their source of coffee beans if they're entirely different in different regions and such but if it is then it would make sense. Philippines and Thailand taste good to me at least tho there is a slight difference with the coffee.

Is it the same with the app? I have Starbucks app instead of the card. It's much more convenient and easier + I tend to lose the card 😂. The stars system there seems more difficult to get than in Indonesia. For me, to get free drinks it's usually 2-3 days of purchase since free drinks is about 100 stars and you get 1 stars for every 0,34$.

Yeah it's the same with the app since you just register the card to the app anyway... So even if you don't bring the card with you, you can still use the app :D It is very difficult, I never got a free drink even tho I already spent $200+ on it. :/ In Indonesia sounds easy haha

Well that starbucks doesn't look so crowded? or it didn't come out in the shot hahaha.

The habit of drinking coffee..? hmm very fun :) Until I was too addicted to coffee made my stomach acid rise and the doctor also advised me to lose 10kg. :)

Dear @hiddenblade, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency,

Hive.blog / https://wallet.hive.blog/proposals
or using HiveSigner.

wow :D i need

You have to come to Vienna to visit a good old choffeshop there. We also have Sturbucks but ... hell yeah ... it's just Starbucks. I love the old one, I love good Vienna Coffee and I love the small Coffeeshops where I can work ... :-)

Greets from Vienna

Oh yeahh!! Starbucks isn't a place for me to work, I literally can't focus in there if I have to do something hahah it's just a place to chill for me as some people can really be loud with talking. :D I would love to try coffee there in Vienna and some other places. :D It's true, it's just Starbucks with lots of sugar hahah but it gets addictive over time lol

;-) You are cool ...
