Each to their own coffee - week 145

Hello, coffee lovers.

The last time I went into a café alone was just a couple of days ago. I think it's really interesting that you're doing this prompt this week, because while I was drinking my coffee, I was thinking about the people around me.

As I sat enjoying my coffee, I observed everyone around me. I'm a writer, so I've had this habit for several years, ever since I started writing.

The most interesting thing was that everyone was engrossed in their own thoughts. Some couples, instead of talking, were even checking their phones. They only stopped to take a sip of coffee.

Other people were meeting in the cafeteria for small gatherings, discussing topics of interest to the group. They seemed to be from the same workplace, as they were wearing the same uniform.

Each table seemed like a world unto itself. Each table made me think of countless life stories. Some were quite fantastical, while others were more grounded in reality.

But in all of them, coffee was the common thread that connected each story, each universe.

With these last ones, the ones from the work group, what I thought was, of all the places that exist to discuss work-related topics, why choose a coffee shop? Couldn't they talk at their workplace? Who wants to talk about work after working hours?

Each answer provoked more questions, so I stopped theorizing about it. Nevertheless, it was the strangest thing I saw. Stranger, even, than a woman sitting alone in a coffee shop, drinking her coffee and observing everything, in silence.
