The sad thing is that when you get a message with such an inquiry, the first thing you do is go and check the post to see if you really missed something great. Then you see the shite!
In that case, I think a mute is most deserving:)

agree. perhaps with one slight correction - judging by the author, one may even skip the extra check, cause most authors have their level, posting habits, which is often the same (unless they decide to steal someone else's stuff)

well, this is questionable, my opinion would not be the same, I prefer to keep M-button for plagiarists and abusers, not for the idiots, prefer to explain and spend time on them (at least once, not over and over again). after explanations did not work - ignore option is left. but of course the danger of littering the community with spam posts so that the good ones get lost and not noticed is very real, it is. in this case, you have to use "mute" a lot, if you want the community to be pleasant place to enter and spend time. heh..

Hmmm, you are right!!
Yeah, I'm not "mute happy", and normally reserve that action for non-community-related posts, plagiarism, or non-adhering to specific community rules. However, generally, an encounter of any kind with a beggar irks me, so I just have to nip it in the bud.😏
