RE: CLOSED - Coffee Conversation: EVENT 81 (AUG 24 - 26)

Oh, totally!

Hey, coffee friends! Hope you're having a nice Friday 😌

Poly-coated paper disposable cups are the worst I've tried so far--like the ones they use here in Venezuela to serve Nescafé at bakeries and coffee shops--. They make my coffee taste like plastic; I guess it's because of the smell be they produce when the hot coffee touches the poly coat. How healthy can that be, btw. I'll bet it gives you cancer.

Regular disposable plastic cups are not ideal either, but I tolerate them better. These are the ones I use to offer coffee to my students in my classes.

My choice will always be ceramic if get to choose the cup for my coffee.

Below is the coffee I had today at work. It came with some biscotti. It was a nice touch ❤️

💯

I trust that your Sunday coffee will be as awesome as the one you had on Friday.
Yeah, there were some good posts, heh-13.jpg
Sunday!

Sunday isn't over yet, so I might have some awesome coffee & treats today 😏

Coffee just tastes like plastic when it's in a disposable cup to me. I agree... the cancer-causing element certainly has to be there 😵

Your work coffee looks amazing though! I'm 100% team ceramic as well, and if you add a biscotti, all the better hehe 💗

Biscotti, cheesecake, dark chocolate, buttered toast, hehe. Yes, please 😁🙈

We have a good collection of cups at the office, but that's my second job. I have my coffee in disposable plastic cups when I'm teaching my classes; I take it from home in a thermos.

That's a good point, I also have the feeling that the taste of plastic gets through so I don't like to drink coffee in disposables.

Hey, believe me, I've also noticed that effect in the disposable cups they give out in cafes to serve Nescafé. I agree with you that plastic cups are more forgiving.
Ceramic or glass mugs are my favorites 🥰

I know, right? The taste is weird because of the smell that the poly coat produces when it touches the hot coffee.

I've been meaning to buy a couple of glass mugs because the material is so gentle that it changes nothing I'm the hot coffee.

Disposable cups really spoil the taste of the coffee. Glass cups are a great option. I hope to see them soon 🥰

A plastic flavored coffee is the worst, I have always heard that plastic containers when they reach high temperatures are harmful, but unfortunately they are commonly used for coffee.

Obviously I prefer a ceramic mug. But when running from one place to another, you can opt for a disposable cup with a lid. Lately there have been innovations in design and additives that keep the heat in and preserve the flavor..... Something I recommend is to buy a ceramic cup to go and when you buy coffee you use your own cup 😊👍🏽

Hi Hi! What a great sequence, I will always prefer a coffee in a good cup, especially to keep it warm.

Oh, you're right: temperature! A good cup must keep our coffee hot--or cold--as long as possible, and we don't want our steaming coffee to cook in plastic. Not healthy at all.

It's what we always wish for but wow, they don't always serve coffee in ceramic containers, I'm starting to worry. 🤔

The main issue with plastic is when it becomes in contact with hot liquid. I think some of the coffee shops give paper cups for their hot drinks and plastic ones for the cold drinks. I’m not a fan of either of them. 😁
They both seem awful.

I have never taste different when the coffee on the paper glass, but on the plastic glass like your first photo, I prefer avoid because the plastic is so thin then added hot water, may be will make long term disease. Regular disposable plastic cups, I also prefer that. But the way out of our worries, maybe we need a tumblr that we can use always

For me, these plastic coats always change the taste of hot drinks, including the ones they use for sublimation cups. Polypropylene cups are, perhaps, worse. Glass, porcelain, stone, clay... Oh, much better materials for cups--and pottery--, healthier.

Oh when it's too hot coffee smells like plastic also.

The hotter the worse if coffee is served in plastic cups. And it releases more micro plastics. Terrible.

Yes it's terrible when it is serve in plastic cups. It would be best to serve it in ceremic or glass mugs not to alter the taste of the coffee.

The problem is that coffee to go could not be in glass or ceramic cups, at least not the ones we know so far.

It is true that the taste of coffee changes drastically from one material to another. I also think that the taste of coffee is better enjoyed in porcelain cups than in plastic.

I leave you a cup of coffee for this day.☕untitled.gif

Sometimes, I disposable cups are just the easiest way to go, but I don't like them for many reasons: ecology, the taste of coffee, health...

I totally agree with you, the taste of coffee is better enjoyed in porcelain cups than in plastic ones. A good cup to enjoy a good coffee ☕.
