For many, coffee is more than just a drink, because in reality it has become a way to be intimate, to feel, to communicate and its simple aroma can evoke memories and steal a smile.

Para mí siempre ha sido costumbre que cada vez que viene alguien de visita a mi casa, lo correcto es recibirlo con una taza de café recién preparado. Recuerdo que en una ocasión mi madre vino a casa y, como siempre, me esmeré preparando un delicioso café en mi vieja Greca.
Lo preparé bastante cargado, le añadí la cantidad de azúcar perfecta para mi madre y luego batí un poco de leche hasta espumar para adicionarla al café. Añadí un poco de canela y serví con unas cuantas galletitas. Apenas mi madre tomó el primer sorbo de café fue corriendo hacia el fregadero para escupirlo. Yo realmente no entendía qué ocurría y mi madre, riendo a más no poder, sólo exclamó: "¡HIJA, EL CAFÉ ESTÁ SALADO!".

Yes, I had confused the sugar jar with the salt jar because someone had come up with the wonderful idea of swapping them around. My face was a poem and I couldn't get over my astonishment and anger. Seriously, I had taken too much care preparing the coffee! In the end we both ended up laughing our heads off and there was no choice but to make more coffee.
El café siempre ha estado ahí para mí, no sólo en los momentos felices sino también en los más tristes. Desde las preocupaciones más banales como tener que estudiar durante varias madrugas para lograr salvar una materia en la Universidad, hasta las preocupaciones y desilusiones más grandes por haber perdido a algún ser querido una buena taza de café ha ayudado a reconfortarme e intentar subirme esos ánimos.
