Visiting Tributo Casa de Café in Chacao, Caracas, Venezuela is like taking a trip to that little corner of Tovar in Mérida. How kind of them! But, excuse me, first of all, it smells so good! God, what an aroma.
It’s a tiny, cozy place with everything you need to enjoy a filter coffee or a “guayoyo,” as we call it here.
We stopped by after lunch, and I wanted to try a coffee with chocolate, so I ordered a Mocaccino—but hey, not just any mocha, no, no, no, nooo—this is a specialty coffee, grown at 1,700 meters above sea level, with a texture that’s to die for. They also served it with a splash of water to cleanse the palate after lunch and a spoon to stir the chocolate, which, being thick, settles at the bottom of the cup.
Tributo’s Mocaccino is made with a shot of Huezca espresso, 65% single-origin cocoa, and steamed milk. This coffee is pure, with body, strength, aroma, and color.
Their slogan is “Crazy About Coffee.” The guys who work here wear it on their caps, but if it’s a guy, it says “Loco,” and if it’s a girl, “Loca”—hahaha! Awesome! I don’t usually wear caps, but I need one like that—right now!
Fun fact: this café is owned by Amanda Dudamel, Miss Venezuela 2021 and first runner-up in the 2022 Miss Universe pageant.
