I have always liked places with an excess of self-identity. Where I can feel calm and connect with myself. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to go to Barique Coffee House. Everything happened after doing some business at the bank. I woke up very early to make my work commitments, so I had not had breakfast and drank my morning coffee.
The conversation about going to Barique Coffee House came up because my younger brother wanted to go to this new business that highlights the values and identity of the people of Lara. People born in the State of Lara, Venezuela, are known as Guaro. Yes, I am a “purebred guaro”. The latter is a very traditional, eloquent and exciting idiom. Are there similar idioms in your city?
To recapitulate, Barique Coffee House is located in the historic center of the city of Barquisimeto, the capital of the State of Lara, Venezuela. The facade of this coffee shop stands out for being a colonial house from the Republican era, that is, after Venezuela gained its independence from the Kingdom of Spain. Certainly, it is a place that is captivated by its tradition, culture, nostalgia and historical value.
Upon entering Barique Coffee House you find a room full of portraits of some of the city's famous people. Ornaments of the twentieth century and works of art that reflect the majesty of the State of Lara. There is an eccentric and striking decoration in the space.

As you enter, you come across a majestic mural, with typical phrases of the local people, such as: na'guara, vasié, adiú, asarao, borona, ah mundo, conchale vale, among others. This mural makes you connect with the space and with what you will eat in the café. It is also a projection of what you expect when you enjoy a cup of coffee.

In the middle of the iconic colonial house, there is a fountain full of splendor. An attractive and striking mix of colors. In front of it is a mural of Divina Pastora, the mother of the Catholic parishioners in Barquisimeto. Guess what is behind it? A small place protected by her. I think they chose this place intentionally; there are the espresso machines, the kitchen, and a small reception where you can also have a nice coffee. Did I choose to stay here? No, I wanted the freest place in the Barique Coffee House.

In the center of the coffee shop, you can see the tradition, the cocuy (a native drink from Lara), the one that represents being from Barquisimeto, and the coffee. The best coffee in Venezuela is from the State of Lara; that is what we are. That is what is in our roots and culture. It's inevitable that I don't love coffee; after all, it's part of the culture of my city and my roots as a person. I got a little excited!
We decided to head to the end of Barique Coffee House, an open, uncluttered, open-air space where the wind was circulating amazingly. Once there, we were very kindly served by a waitress; she handed us the menu and explained what they had for breakfast and what coffee they had available.

My brother ordered a cappuccino, and I ordered a latte. For breakfast, we both chose to have Venezuelan tequeños with tartar sauce.
We waited for the order for about ten minutes while they prepared it. I was impressed with how they combined the elements of the space, keeping the identity of the colonial house structure. Even the walls look like they were built with bahareque blocks. They respected the history and what this house used to be. The space is perfect for waiting and enjoying a latte.

Breakfast arrived along with our coffees; I couldn't believe it! Both coffees were huge—extremely large, I would say. When I saw it, I thought I wouldn't be able to drink it, but the truth is that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In the case of the tequeños they were very good. My rating for them is seven points out of ten. The tartar sauce was very good. That's a ten out of ten for her.
I must point out that the coffee is made with local production, that is, from the State of Lara. And it was delicious; it is one of the best lattes I have had so far. Endowed with quality attention and an impressive cultural value.
My brother also told me that his cappuccino was very good, and he is more detailed when it comes to coffee than I am. We both left Barique Coffee House amazed. Without a doubt, it is a place that you must visit if you come to the State of Lara and learn about its culture. Of course, you should not leave without drinking a great coffee like the one they sell here. You will get the best experience.
The bill for both coffees, and the two services of Venezuelan tequeños gave a value of 450.00 bolivars, equivalent to about 14 USDT or HBD.
I think that the experience of having a delicious coffee should be full of cultural value, the identity of the business, and what its owners want to transmit. I am referring to the message, the comfort and the unique anecdote that should be offered when enjoying a good coffee.

Ayer tuve la oportunidad de ir a Casa Barique Café, todo ocurrió luego de hacer algunas gestiones en el banco. Me levanté muy temprano para hacer mis compromisos laborales, por ende, no había desayunado y tomado mi café matutino.
La conversación de ir a Casa Barique Café salió a relucir porqué mi hermano menor quería ir a éste nuevo negocio que resalta los valores e identidad del gentilicio larense. A las personas que nacen en el Estado Lara, Venezuela, se les conoce como Guaro. Sí, yo soy “guaro de pura cepa”. Este último es un modismo muy tradicional, elocuente y emocionante. ¿En tu ciudad existen modismos iguales?
Recapitulo, Casa Barique Café se encuentra ubicado en el casco histórico de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, capital del Estado Lara, Venezuela. Específicamente, en la carrera 17, entre calles 25 y 26. La fachada de ésta cafetería resalta por ser una casa colonial de la época republicana; es decir, luego de que Venezuela se independizó del Reino de España. Ciertamente, es un lugar que cautiva por su tradición, cultura, nostalgia y valor histórico.
Al entrar a Casa Barique café encuentras un salón lleno de retratos de algunas personas célebres de la ciudad. Adornos del siglo XX, y obras de arte que reflejan la majestuosidad del Estado Lara. Hay una decoración excéntrica y llamativa en el espacio.
A medida que vas entrando, te encuentras con un mural majestuoso, con frases típicas del gentilicio larense como: na'guara, vasié, adiú, asarao, borona, ah mundo, conchale vale, entre otras. Éste mural, hace que conectes con el espacio y con lo que comerás en el café. Además de que es una proyección de lo que esperas al disfrutar una taza de café.
En medio de la icónica casa colonial, se encuentra una fuente llena de esplendor. Una mezcla de colores atractiva y llamativa. Frente a ella hay un mural de la Divina Pastora, la madre de los feligreses católicos en Barquisimeto. ¿Adivina qué hay detrás de ella? Un pequeño lugar protegido por ella. Creo que escogieron éste lugar intencionalmente, allí están las máquinas de café expreso, la cocina, y una pequeña recepción donde también se puede tomar un rico café. ¿Elegí quedarme acá? No, quería el lugar más libre de Casa Barique Café.
En el centro de la cafetería puedes ver la tradición: el cocuy (bebida autóctona larense), la que representa ser barquisimetano y el café. El mejor café de Venezuela es del Estado Lara, eso somos. Eso es lo que está en nuestras raíces y cultura. Es inevitable que no amara el café, que después de todo forma parte de la cultura de mi ciudad y mis raíces como persona. ¡Me emocioné un poco!
Decidimos dirigirnos a la parte final de Casa Barique Café, un espacio abierto, despejado y al aire libre donde circulaba el viento asombrosamente. Una vez allí, nos atendió una mesera muy amablemente, nos entregó el menú, nos explicó que tenían para desayunar y que café tenían disponibles.
Mi hermano pidió un capuchino y yo un café latte. Para desayunar ambos elegimos comer tequeños venezolanos con salsa para untar tártara.
Esperamos el pedido por unos diez minutos mientras lo preparaban. Me impresionó como combinaron los elementos del espacio, manteniendo la identidad de la estructura de la casa colonial. Incluso las paredes se ven que fueron levantadas con bloques de bahareque. Respetaron la historia y lo que era anteriormente ésta casa. El espacio es perfecto para esperar y disfrutar un café latte.
El desayuno llegó junto a nuestros cafés. ¡No lo podía creer! Ambos cafés eran inmensos, extremadamente grandes, diría yo. Cuando lo vi, pensé que no podría tomarlo, pero la verdad es que lo disfrute completo.
En el caso de los tequeños estaban muy buenos. Mi calificación para ellos es de siete puntos sobre diez. La salsa tártara estaba muy buena. Es un diez de diez para ella.
Debo destacar que el café lo hacen con producción local; es decir, del Estado Lara. Y estaba delicioso, es uno de los mejores lattes que he tomado hasta ahora. Dotado de una atención de calidad y un valor cultural impresionante.
Mi hermano también me indico que su capuchino estaba muy bueno, y eso que él es más detallista en temas de café que yo. Ambos salimos maravillados de Casa Barique Café, sin lugar a dudas es un lugar que debes visitar si vienes al Estado Lara y conocer de su cultura. Claro, no debes irte sin tomar un café grandísimo como el que venden acá. Te llevarás la mejor experiencia.
La cuenta de ambos cafés, y los dos servicios de tequeños venezolanos, dio un valor de 450.00 bolívares equivalentes a unos 14 USDT o HBD.
Pienso que la experiencia de tomar un rico café debe estar llena del valor cultural, de la identidad del negocio y lo que sus dueños desean trasmitir. Me refiero al mensaje, al confort y la anécdota única que se debe ofrecer al disfrutar un buen café.
Sin lugar a dudas, Casa Barique Café acertó con ése toque larense e identidad cultural. Ama el café igual que yo, espero que puedas venir y disfrutar de éste lugar en Barquisimeto, Lara-Venezuela.
