I am happy to be back in this wonderful community.
In other posts I have told you how I came to love coffee, but I remind you again, it was after I returned to my paternal home, and in the afternoons I shared with my dad talking about anything in a terrible time of scarcity in my country where the coffee they sold was not coffee. One day I bought a powder that tasted horrible and was anything but coffee. We both looked each other in the face and determined that we were not going to drink any more cheap and misleading blends and that we would rather drink herbal teas until we could buy good coffee.
Years went by, my dad is no longer with us, but I kept my taste for this aromatic bean and now I enjoy it at home with my mom.
Many months ago I came up with the idea of starting a business related to the beverage that I had learned to love at my father's side. Now, I did not want to enter the coffee business in an empirical way, I had to prepare myself. For this reason, after desiring it so much, I took classes to become a barista.
The term “barista” was first used in Italy. The barista is a person who specializes in preparing beverages derived from coffee. He/she can also prepare teas or chocolate.
A barista can prepare and serve drinks, manage coffee shops and design menus for them.
My certification lasted two days, that is, 16 hours of classes. It took place almost a month ago in a beautiful restaurant located in a shopping mall in my city. It was really a very enjoyable workshop, we participated 16 students, young and not so young.
The first day of the workshop we acquired theoretical knowledge and the second day was totally practical.
I was the oldest student in the group, but we still had a great time.
The practice was, at first, a bit scary since we were people who had never handled an espresso coffee machine before. And the machine we practiced with was huge. We were told that due to our inexperience we could burn ourselves with some hot parts, but, thank God, none of us had an accident.
We learned a lot of theory, we even had to take an exam, and we practiced the techniques of espressos, over and over again, then americanos, cappuccinos and mocaccinos.
It was really exciting to do something that I really like. I can already imagine myself preparing my coffees with excellence and happily serving everyone who comes to my place.
Doing the barista certification made me take my passion for coffee to another level because it has helped me to have a clear vision of what I want with respect to my gastronomic project.
However, a decisive fact is that after the barista workshop, my palate has undergone a profound change. Now every time I try a coffee I can classify it according to its type and I have realized that the one I make in my home coffee maker is no longer so tasty (laughs). The good thing is that everything happens for the better.
This continues, dear readers. I will always keep you up to date with my news in this wonderful world that brings us all together in this excellent community, the world of coffee.
I will see you again for another valuable opportunity.

I admire when you make them, I enjoy watching the process.
I have tried, but no way, it takes practice, patience and guidance to get it done.
