Appointment in the city
I needed to get some blood drawn and it was at a private clinic in the city so when making an appointment I was super grateful that these private facilities often have Saturday appointments optional. Lately we've been having quite a few afternoon appointments taking several hours of my boyfriend's work time which is getting costly as it adds up. So far I've wanted him with me during the appointments but hopefuly in a few weeks I will be reassured and go alone.
The appointment itself went very smooth that day, still waiting for the results though.
Quick round in the market hall
As we planned on visiting the market hall there every since I saw it the first time in summer 2022 (yes, almost 3 years ago!) but never really love going to the city without having to be there for an appointment because traffic and parking, well it's a nightmare! This time the market hall was litteraly around the corner so we had a quick glance to see what we'd want to buy there and then went out to look for a place to sit and have a first coffee and breakfast. I still drink just 1 coffee daily, and it's going well.
Breakfast time
It was already getting late because my appointment was at 10.15 and I believe they were delayed 30 minutes so it must have been 11 AM when we walked out of the clinic that morning. None of us ate anything at home because we planned on grabbing a coffee and breakfast in the city while we were there.
All the little cafes we passed which had nice terraces were filled until the very last chair and the weather was absolutely stunning so now way we were going to sit inside with this perfect weather to catch some vitamin d on our skin!
Cute little place
After passing at least 10 others, we found a cute little croissanteria where they seemed to have a great variety of pastry, regular toasts and luxury toasts (which caught our attention immediately) so this meant even the litle one would be happy ordering something non-toast, lol. She's still a little fussy when it comes to breakfast options.
First we ordered our coffee though because we could both use it by that time. I ordered it in a cane glass (En vaso de caña) because I need to have balance with my coffee and milk and I'm never happy when they serve it in a regular coffee cup. So I've learned to ask for this version because often they don't bring it like this automatically.
It was hard to resist ordering a second coffee but I decided to stick to my plans of 1 coffee a day and order water instead. I can really enjoy these little moments of finding such a new cute place to sit, having beautiful weather and company on a terrace in one of these cute little side streets here in Spain. I adore them and hope to find many more, it really makes me happy to do so.
The food
But I can't leave out the food because I don't think I ever had a toast THIS good that I could not stop talking about it. Yes, they were a little more expensive than your average toast with jam or ham or tuna with avocado, BUT they were not being cheap adding the salmon topping either!
We both ordered a different toast from the menu, my boyfriend had one with salmon, avocado spread and something that was written as "milk" but looked as tiny mozzarella to me. I forgot to ask the waiter as I was enjoying my own food way too much to be bothered.

Mine, it was SO good!
I'm used to the Spanish always adding olive oil on the bottom of the bread and often I forget to ask them to not do that but this time I was excited to find butter on the bottom instead of oil! I never expected butter to be this tasteful together with the salmon and dille topping. I had no clue but I'm in love now. I must have this toast again the next time we visit the city and are nearby this place.
I could not stop talking about how good it was and it was such a taste explosiong by just these few ingredients, amazing! These people know what's up! I was hungry and ordered a second one, lol. My boyfriend ordered the same as I did but still found the other one better with avocado although he didn't find the milk toppings adding anything. But he agreed, the combination of butter and salmon was suprisingly great.
Our daughter had a croissant with chocolate topping, can't go wrong there with a little sweet tooth!
Back to the market
Finally, we headed back to the market hall to buy the things we wanted such as the 1 pitaya I shared in another post, gosh so good! But also I could not resist the big crate of huge strawberries. We probably just eat strawberries 3x a year because when in season, they are quickly out of season as well (meaning, they aren't kept cool enough to stay fresh in many supermarkets) but this markethall was really well regulated in terms of temperature. In fact, the lower floor was the fish market and there was 0 smell! Amazing.
We also took home some other veggies as well as some chicken wings because my boyfriend loves them in the air fryer. They looked much better than in the supermarket but he didn't fancy them as much. Next time he will pick them from another seller and hope it's better. I'm not 100% sure if all was cheaper than in the supermarket, but it was very clearly noticeable that the offer in vegetables (as well as imported ones) was much bigger as well as the freshness of the fruit and vegetables being much better than most supermarkets.
Currently it's not a big issue yet, but in a month or so temperatures will rise a lot and I can see how it can be smarter to buy things from such a closed market hall where temperatures are better regulated. I'm defintely going to visit again when we are back for another visit.

You spent a day very intense, filled with fun and enjoyment. The coffee break was very pleasant, from what you've told us, and in the end, that's what we're looking for when we go somewhere to eat and drink.
I really liked those strawberries, they're so pretty they could be in a magazine photo. I hope the taste is as nice as the look.
