Hello dear friends who always share in this beautiful community, here I bring you another of my experiences with my lifelong friend “EL CAFË”.
A few months ago, a dear friend (who shared many years of work with me at the same school until we both retired) received some unfortunate news: she has lung cancer.
At first, shocked by the news, she decided not to do anything about it, but to wait until God saved her. However, with the tears and pleas of her two daughters, she decided to cooperate with the assigned treatment, including the first six chemotherapy sessions.
The psychologist at the school where we work and I agreed to help her through this difficult process.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, we accompanied her to the La Trinidad Teaching Medical Center in Caracas, Venezuela, for her second chemotherapy treatment. The psychologist, my friend, one of her daughters, and I drove there in my car.
All the way from Guatire to Caracas, on the way to the clinic, we tried to make her laugh by telling her all the stories we had experienced together at school, mentioning some of the students who gave us the most headaches in the department where the three of us worked (the psychologist and the two of us who are educational psychologists).
She thanked us constantly for our company.
We stayed at the clinic from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., when the treatment ended.
When she came out, we continued with our jokes to make her smile, and the first thing she said was, “I WANT A BIG CUP OF COFFEE, FRIENDS.”
Since coffee is currently prohibited in her diet, we replied that we would have one for her as a joke. She smiled, and we went down to the clinic cafeteria.

The restaurant/café is called “PANTOPIA" Only the psychologist and I ordered a latte, which was truly delicious, piping hot, and frothy.

The girl ordered a chocolate ice cream and the patient ordered a sugar-free strawberry juice.
As we savored that delicious coffee, we commented that coffee is always present in every moment of life, and although this was not the best moment, there we were with it, accompanying a dear friend in a not-so-pleasant climate. However, we were able to enjoy it and understand that “COFFEE” is the best support in difficult moments like this...

We stayed a few more minutes chatting, and then I went to get my car, which was parked a little way from the café, and came back to pick them up so my friend wouldn't have to walk too far.
We returned to Guatire, I took the psychologist to her home and my friend and her daughter to theirs, and then I went home feeling very nostalgic about what we were going through, but without showing her that feeling. On the contrary, we must fill her with strength, faith, and hope that this will only be a passing nightmare.
So, friends, that's my brief and emotional presentation with my best ally, “EL CAFË.” Thanks for reading.
