Hello dear friends of this delicious Community, here I bring you one of my many outings with my beloved and inseparable friend "The Coffee".
I have a friend 10 years older than me, she suffers from Diabetes. The truth is that it has generated many changes in her life, she must have a very rigid diet in food and her quality of life has deteriorated.
Wanted to mention this, since she invited me yesterday afternoon to have coffee in a bakery in the area that is relatively new, I accepted the invitation and we went.
Upon arrival everything looked very nice, the entrance is a large glass door, we entered and at the bottom they sell different things for consumption, such as: a variety of savory breads, soft drinks, cakes, chocolates, candy, paneton, nuts, among others.
It has another floor above where the tables are, we went upstairs and the place was completely alone, but very clean and pleasant.
We sat down, immediately we were attended by a girl and she asked us if we wanted to have breakfast, for my part I answered that I only wanted a large coffee with milk, my friend ordered one but only black and without sugar that is as he can take it, the sugar ballots were brought to him, but he did not use them.
While we were having coffee, she thanked me for accepting her invitation and taking her to such a beautiful place, -I needed it- she said. I feel very cooped up in my house, and not being able to drink a coffee with milk and sugar (which is how I like it) gives me a lot of pain and impotence.
After talking for a while she told me that she needed to eat some fruit, because due to her illness she felt a little dizzy, I was a little scared because I have never dealt with diabetic people and I don't know what the symptoms are and much less how to treat it.
I asked her if she wanted to ask for the bill and leave and she said no, that eating some fruit was enough, so we called the girl who was serving us and ordered a fruit plate.
For a moment I was a little uncomfortable and preferred to leave, but after she ate her fruits I saw that her face changed and her color returned.
So, I ordered another coffee with milk, since the first one was very delicious, my friend she didn't ask for more coffee.
While I tasted my tasty coffee, I listened to her for a long time. What this lady needed was to unburden herself to someone about her health problem and the confinement she is suffering at the moment, her only two children are out of the country.
I listened to her carefully, I gave her a big hug, telling her that I am there for whatever she needs me for, that she can count on me.
She paid the bill, she did not allow me to help her, and one of the things she told me was: I have enough money to do what we are doing today (drinking coffee), as many times as I want, my children send me money monthly, but my husband is much older than me and can no longer accompany me.
Those words moved me a lot, but I don't always have the time to accompany her, but that time we spent there we had a great time and I feel I did a good deed with my friend and enjoying those exquisite coffees even better.

Eating a balanced diet is so important because diabetes is difficult to reverse. I'm happy she was able to enjoy coffee time with you, and the setting looked lovely, indeed:)
Yes friend, she must have her balanced diet, what I regret is that she can't enjoy her latte with sugar, but we enjoy those coffees very much, the place is very pleasant.... Happy day 🤗🙏

What a touching story, many of these stories are repeated in our country, elderly and sick people alone because their closest relatives are in another country looking to help themselves and their families, I am glad that you have been able to support her just by listening to her, I know this disease closely because of my grandmother and you really have to take care of what you eat.
Hello @yosoyada, the truth is that this is a terrible disease that completely changes the quality of life of people, unfortunately these older gentlemen are alone, their daughters had to emigrate to another country, but rest assured that as long as I can help them I will do it, not only accepting to have a coffee, also accompany them to their medical consultations and even take them to do market.
