Some friends did this to me at a party as well, it didn't feel funny but they laughed when I felt a burning sensation of the hot drink that I wished it was rather beer that I disliked. Its downsides are quite extreme and disheartening - so great choice.

I don't know why they think it's funny though. I would have for sure(if it were now), be pissed as hell.
