This weekend, two of my walks took me past statues. These collections are both located in the town of Eden Prairie Minnesota.
These first statues are oddly part of the decor outside a new Scheels sporting goods store.
We have George Washington...
Thomas Jefferson...
Abraham Lincoln...
And, fast forwarding to more modern times — Ronald Reagan.
And in honor of Sublime Sunday, I did a funky edit on Ronny, who is not dressed in presidential attire, but in westerns clothes, evidently harkening back to his Hollywood says. So I chose a filter to give him a kind of faded, old time Western look.
There are also several statues outside the building that actually represent the sports industry.
The second set of statues is from a war memorial in a place called Purgatory Creek, which is a park and nature reserve. The statues and plaques always captivate me.
I always feel an intense sadness at war memorials. So many lives have been lost in every major war, fighting for rights, freedoms, land and supremacy. It’s important to remember those who served.
Thank you very much for visiting! And thank you to @c0ff33a for hosting the Sublime Sunday tag, and to @ace108 for hosting the Beautiful Sunday tag!

Not sure if the younger people will think Ronald Reagan is from more modern times. 😎
I think the war memorial ones have more details in them.
You are so funny! I know. You're right. Still... compared to Abe Lincoln, right?
Lincoln has his details in the beard.
So much wonderful Americana. I'm not American, but have great respect for what these men accomplished. I wish the world could learn their lessons, so we don't have to reinvent the wheel of democracy.
Democracy is always being reinvented it seems!
