I found myself in Amish country for this #sublimesunday
Thankfully this guy had a nice red reflective warning triangle on the back of his carriage.
Some of the locals really buzz down these highways fast on their cars so you definitely don't want to be speeding over a hill with a slow moving carriage suddenly in front of you.
It is Sunday so I would imagine they are all headed off to church somewhere. We go to see many types of carriages and horses along this highway.
Fortunately my wife was driving so I could snipe photos with my zoom lens from the passenger side. When you see the wheel marks on the road be sure to slow down, there might be carriages plodding along.
My daughter found it interesting they were using horses to pull carriages. Maybe this fall we'll take her for a carriage ride for fun.
Here's another reason to slow down... A whole family of juvenile Canada geese were waddling over the highway. Looks like they camp out on the highway too leaving lots of poop everywhere.
This is the driftless area of Wisconsin so there are lots of farms, horses and Amish. Good for a relaxing Sunday drive.
Our actual destination was a hike at Wildcat Mountain. It ended up being hot and rainy and we saw even more Amish up there hiking.
From the top of the mountain we could see lots of farms hidden in the topography. This farm is probably too high tech to be Amish run. I tried searching for some farms to stop by with produce or meat but sadly my reception on my phone was out. Next time we come here we'll try and do more research to know where to stop, maybe we can even get a carriage ride somewhere.

We are going to stop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to check out the Amish area on our summer road trip. We are leaving on Tuesday for the trek to Kansas. Maybe I should add Wield Al to the playlist 😂
That song was pretty popular when I was in high school, my mormon friends were allowed to listen to weird al, so they got knockoff Nirvana and Coolio.
What an idyll, I'm surprised they still live like that!
Oh yeah all over the midwest and part of the east too. They mostly farm but also make barns and furniture to sell to the English (anyone who doesn't live like them).
