Rainy But Sublime Sunday

The cassia fistula

This is my idea of a Sunday well spent, it was absolutely amazing, enthralling and perfect in every way. Although this morning didn't start off very well I decided to make a perfect rest of the day. We woke up to the sound of rain, its
had been raining all through the night for the last four days and the Sun is very reluctant to come out during the day. This didn't support my plan for a nature walk and photography day.

The hubs and I waited for the rain to clear up but it didn't seem to happen anytime soon. So we dressed appropriately for the weather and set out, I was not going to let anything spoil my day, not even the weather I decided. Camera in hand and a number of cushions to support my hurting back we drove out of the city limits to enjoy nature at this time of the year. Were we disappointed? On the contrary it turned out to be a sublime day with such beautiful scenery that it took my breath away.

I don't know about you but for me being with nature is sublime. To be honest I was not in the best of spirits before I started, the boys were busy and weren't visiting us this weekend. The hubs and I would have to look at each other's face as we had done during the week. That's when we decided to go out on a long drive as soon as we woke up.

It was in a wooded area on the highway that we saw these trees. It was like they were waving to us and beckoning us to come admire them. I just couldn't stop shooting, I guess I clicked more than a hundred pictures of these trees this morning. I just couldn't get enough of these beauties. I know that my sleeping and waking thoughts for the next couple of weeks at least will be filled with these scenes. .

The sun did persistently try to get through the clouds and did manage its mission pretty well for a few minutes at a time over the next couple of hours. This lit up the flowers brightly before becoming dull again as the clouds overcame the sun.

The drive didn't seem like it would be worth it as weather seemed to get worse as we drove. The ground was slushy and we couldn't walk as we had planned earlier. I felt that photos wouldn't turn out too well because of the weather, but who cares we did everything we wanted to do despite the weather. Look at this image does it look terrible? After we left the city limits the roads were picturesque. The grotesque city buildings were now replaced by beautiful trees in bloom. This Cassia fistula or the Indian laburnum is like a dream come true.

The rain is a welcome change from the summer heat we had experienced over the last two months. The weather was pleasant, almost perfect if not for the light drizzle which ensured that I wipe my lens every time I took a picture. There are a whole bunch of images which have droplets of water blurring them because my memory isn't at its best right now, but that's okay.

Living in this moment, enjoying this beauty around us is the perfect way to live. I don't care about anything else right now. Now, this moment, is all I have and I grab this moment to make memories with the one I love. We saw this red carpet spread out before us for miles. We stopped the car, jumped out of it and walked up and down in perfect silence until we felt it was time to get on and move ahead.

A close up of the Delonix regia /Gul mohur

These gul mohur trees as they are locally called trees can be found all over the city and the outskirts. I fondly call them the orchid flower tree, these flowers look like orchids. If you notice there is usually one petal which is yellow or white with red spots and speckles giving the look and feel of an orchid bloom.

This java cassia tree has very deep pink almost magenta colored blooms. The lighting wasn't right when I too this image, but I had to, they looked so pretty.

This is a regular thorn tree which no one dares to get close to normally, but even a torn tree has its perfect, almost sublime moment. They looked so stunning with these bunches of blooms, it was as if there had a shower of snow flakes on them. I couldn't resist but stop and take these pictures. I guess I have at least 25 -30 of these images from different places.

The java cassia is another stunning tree. In season they have bunches of flowers weighing down the branches with their bright colored blooms. Most trees here have baby pink blooms, but this one I saw today was very different from the rest.

We spent almost the whole day on the road driving around aimlessly, just admiring nature and stopping to take pictures. we did stop for breakfast and later for a huge salad lunch yumm. Thanks for taking the time to read and support. I appreciate your time and effort. Have an amazing Sunday, mine is almost done here it's bed time in less than an hour. So, until we meet again in words and letters Goodbye.
