Hamsters and Ground Squirrels in Vienna

in PhotoFeed2 years ago

Probably one of the cutest animals I took pictures of are the hamsters and the ground squirrels that can be found in Vienna or near Vienna. And Every year when I visit them it is something special when I can get so close to these animals and whenever I am lucky enough to take some great pictures of them. During the day I usually take some pictures of the ground squirrels and in the evening when the hamsters start their activity we enjoy taking some pictures of these nice little animals. Since both the hamsters and the squirrels get really close it is easier to get some great closeup pictures of these animals.

When we finished taking pictures of the hamsters we usually visit a "Heurigen" Restaurant for some dinner. Because we don't have a Heurigen in Upper Austria and they serve very nice meat, liptauer, spread, and bread. And I always enjoy the grape juice most of the Heurigen restaurants offer. I really like the wild living hamsters but the ground squirrels are even a bit cuter and usually also come closer, so they are one of my favorite animals, and it is always very nice watching them. Depending on the time of they year they are still a little shy in spring but get a lot more comfortable the later in the year it gets. In late summer they are already used to humans so much that they easily get to you only centimeters from you away.
