Colourful Friday Portraits

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share some colourful portraits we did for school seniors, end of the year kind of thing.

The colourful water was made with water + glue + food colouring powder. Not sure how safe is the glue, but it's definitely a nightmare to clean up ;)

We shoot them at mid-morning with the sun at the back of the subjects, a black bedding sheet as a backdrop and a white sheet in front to reflect some light into these awesome kids.

I have a video showing the setup so if you keen, I can post it next.

This are some awesome pics ... I would love to see the setup. Thought you had used some expensive lighters but it seems you didn't. Really awesome, can you tell me the shutterspeed?

Oh Thanks Hetty!

I've used the most powerful and largest light I had, the sun ;)

If you get the sun in a 45 angle around mid-morning or mid-afternoon you'll get a good bounce if you place a white sheet or whiteboard in front of your subject.

For the background using a black sheet worked for us, if somehow that black backdrop can be in the shade even better as it will be easier to make it black without pushing the shutter speed to high.

I decided to use a telephoto lens to compress the background.

Model: Canon EOS 7D
Lens (mm): 300
ISO: 800
Aperture: 5.6
Shutter: 1/1600
