A wander around my neighbourhood

in PhotoFeed3 years ago

There is not much to do at the moment, but there is little better than a late afternoon stroll, camera in hand. The Camera in question is the Fujifilm X-T3 and mated as I like to do with the brand new version of the 27mm pancake lens (no with aperture ring for you Fujifilm people - and as someone who has owned both versions of this lens I can tell you it's awesome) but more important than this is the the sun was putting on quite a little show, all warm and glowing as it prepared to tuck itself in for the night.

My neoghbourhood by the way is North Melbourne/West Melbourne which is just north of the CBD (mayeb you call it downtown or maybe the city centre) of Melbourne, Australia and it's late winter here, but it starting to edge towards spring when the skies a blue and the but the temps are still cool.

First stop is just across the road - if you follow me you probably notice this church is in the background of a lot of shots of Lego and beer but here is what it actually looks like when in focus and from the ground

There is always something amazing about a bare tree in the warm winter light

I liked it so much I tried it again with another tree and the edge of someone's hundred year old terrace house

Not everything is old though - this is an area where there are new apartments popping up all over the shop - this developement which is an entire block is one of the better ones, at scale to the street, nice little laneways cutting through, and much to our surprise a supermarket tucked into the bottom of it which saved us some time walking to our usual place.

and then home past one of my favourite buildings. The Mighty Apollo Gyms - this was a actual gym back in the 1960's when that thing was rare and frequented by actual sportpeople not just regular folk in lyrca

it's now a series of creative worksapces I think, as well as a cafe at the bottom, I'm so glad that the faded paintwork is heritage listed so it will be with us for many years to come
