In 1947, Jean Cocteau took up residence in Milly-la-Forêt with the actor Jean Marais. Their house was actually an annex building of the Château de la Bonde, a 15th-century property owned by Admiral de Graville.
Jean Cocteau lived there for the last seventeen years of his life, alongside his final partner Edouard Dermit, nicknamed "Doudou," who cared for the house and preserved his works until his death in 1995.

En 1947, Jean Cocteau a élu domicile à Milly-la-Forêt avec l'acteur Jean Marais. Leur maison était en réalité un bâtiment annexe du Château de la Bonde, propriété du XV^ème siècle de l'amiral de Graville.
Jean Cocteau y vécut les dix-sept dernières années de sa vie, aux côtés de son dernier compagnon Edouard Dermit, surnommé "Doudou", qui a soigné la demeure et conservé ses œuvres jusqu'à son décès en 1995.
