Pleasant greetings friends, it's nice to have you visit my blog again. How do you do?
At the front gate of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, formerly Abia Polytechnic, has this striking majestic elephant on display.

This majestic elephant mural is strategically positioned that it would be impossible to miss for anyone passing by that location. In fact, it dominates the scene that you can't help but feel it's presence upon getting close. Lol.
One unique thing about this elephant mural is that it's more than just a visual attraction; it pays homage to the city's name, "Aba Enyimba city", (Aba Elephant city). It is said that an elephant escorted the city's early dwellers into the settlement, prompting them to adopt the name Enyimba city, as a tribute to its significance and to also convey a sense of admiration and appreciation.
During one of my visits to the location, I took the opportunity to capture this vibrant mural, the symbol of the city's heritage.

You might be wondering what could be the idea behind capturing the elephant in monochromatic hue. It's simple: the elephant is a legendary symbol, and there's no better way to highlight it's significance and bring it to the forefront than capturing it in monochrome.
Moreover, I'm particularly drawn to monochrome photographs. In fact, the first time I spotted the mural, I knew that monochrome photograph will be the best fit and I wanted nothing else but to achieve it. I'm glad I got the opportunity to do so, and I hope you like the photos.
Till I write and share my monochrome images again, stay safe and be happy. Peace. ✌️
