Immaculate Conception
Last Good Friday, I visited some churches in downtown Barquisimeto, according to the centuries-old tradition of the "Tour of the 7 Temples", very popular in some regions of Spain, Portugal and Latin America during the days of Holy Week.
One of the churches I visited that day was the church of the Immaculate Conception, the first religious building built in the city, and partially destroyed during the earthquakes of 1736 and 1812, being finally restored and inaugurated in 1853 with a mixture of architectural styles, among which neoclassicism stands out.
The temple is located in the historic center of the city, being next to the Plaza Bolivar, the Museum of Barquisimeto, and a short distance from some government agencies, such as the Palace of Justice, seat of all municipal and state courts, among other agencies.
As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.
El pasado Viernes Santo, estuve visitando algunos templos del centro de la ciudad, acorde con la centenaria tradición del "Recorrido de los 7 Templos", muy popular en algunas regiones de España, Portugal y América Latina durante los días de la Semana Santa.
Una de las iglesias a las que acudí ese día, fué a la de la Inmaculada Concepción, la primera edificación religiosa construida en Barquisimeto, y parcialmente destruida durante los terremotos de 1736 y 1812, siendo finalmente restaurada e inaugurada en 1853 con una mezcla de estilos arquitectónicos, entre los cuales, destaca el neoclasicismo.
El templo está ubicado en el casco histórico de la ciudad, estando a un lado de la Plaza Bolívar, el Museo de Barquisimeto, y a corta distancia de algunas dependencias gubernamentales, tal como es el caso del Palacio de Justicia, sede de todos los tribunales municipales y estadales, entre otros organismos.
Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
