The fear of uncertainty.

Fear is one thing we have to face as humans. Sometimes it looks inevitable, sometimes it looks so impossible to overcome, and there are times when they look so fragile that you overcome them in no time.

Most times when we get motivation, the reason behind it is to have the strength to face and fight our fears. Overcoming our fears could be a pacesetter to success, it could be a breakthrough to overcoming challenges, it could even be success itself.

As humans, we are bound to have fears in us, but what matters is how to overcome them. As a child, we have fears of the unseen, and at times little thing brings fear into our minds. But at some point, we overcome them as we grow older.

As students, we face fears of not being able to excel in our studies, be it exams, tests, class work, and many others. At some point, we would have to overcome it.

As an adult the fear builds up again, we get to face fears from our unknown career path, our family life, relationships, friendships, and personal experiences too. But gradually as we continue to age we also get to overcome them.

As parents we get to encounter fears, the fear from parenting, the fears from responsibilities, the fear of poverty, and fear from our jobs. This would remain for a long while but at some point, we would overcome it.

Many people have the fear of death too. But this is just something so certain. We shouldn’t fear death because it's inevitable and the only thing that is certain in life. People die at young and old age. Death knows no boundaries.

Facing my fears.

I had a lot of fears and a lot of reasons to be fearful. To become great in life you will encounter fear, to become strong, you will encounter fear, to achieve success you will face fear. I think fear is everywhere.

This was during my final year. When I had to defend my project work. I have seen a lot of graduates tell their stories about the phobia they get when it comes to defending their projects. It's either you become a Zero or a Hero.

I have also witnessed many students defend theirs, the way they throw questions at them and expect them to answer correctly, some are so confident in the beginning, but when they face a professor they lose to fear and fumble.

I have always imagined myself in their shoes. I have always tried to summon the courage to do better when it's my time. But as days keep counting down the more the fear keeps growing.

Fast forward to the second semester just a few weeks to the defence date. I started practicing so hard, I would rehearse in front of a mirror, practice my speech in front of my roommates, and all sorts.

The D-Day came upon us. I had no choice but to get myself dressed and anticipate for my name to be called. I never stepped out on a podium facing high-class professionals before in my life. Except for times when I was a primary school teacher 😂. I was called upon to defend my project work.

I stepped on the stage with fear in mind, my feet were shaking and my hands were sweaty too. I couldn’t hold myself out. But at some point, I finally got to stand and face them. The courage came from nowhere.

I started the presentation and ended it quickly. A question was thrown to me and I did my best to answer it. Then afterward I stepped down from the stage and got the confidence that I could do it ten times repeatedly if I were called up again.

I realized that fears would always remain fears only when you decide not to fight them off. It would come with a lot of questions but unshackling one's self out and getting a hold of courage will make one triumphant.

I also had this fear of defending my project before I even got to final year because my predecessors always told me tales of their experiences with defence but one thing that I realized was that if you're the one that did your project yourself and you did it well, there's this confidence that comes with it and that was what cleared my fear of defending my project

That defense nearly gave me a heart attack during my time too.
Have you seen a situation all that you disappeared seeing the daring faces ready to finish you up with questions 🤣🤣

Thank God you were able to pull through👏👏

The fear of uncertainty is really a great one that has really hinder a lot of people I must truly confess because I was once in that shoe before and I must say it is not really a good fear to really have. One of the things I really believe is there is no fear that can not be overcome
