Well I myself am a huge fan of Batman. I might not have read all the comics but I have watched a good amount of live action stuff and the cartoons in my childhood. Especially Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and gave the Batman identity a new meaning which is something far deeper than just a comic book superhero. Then in 2022 the new Batman movie also did some justice to the character with its dark art style. I'm talking about all of this because the composition topic today is about such a vigilante. The topic asked a question that if I am presented with the chance of obscene amounts of wealth just the same way as Bruce Wayne and Batman, what will I do with it? And the reality deeds from here. Because reality and fiction are quite far apart.
I'm going to be trying to draw parallels as we speak. It might give you a better understanding of what I'm trying to do or what my thoughts are. Of course in the comics. Bruce Wayne used all his money to get cool gadgets and with those gadgets along with his own personal physical training he took it upon himself to rid his city of crime and corruption. Now I cannot do that in a third world country. Because the technology is not there. But then again since I have all the money in the world maybe I can import them. So, while it is possible for me to pursue the career of a vigilante, if I am given the same bank balance as Bruce Wayne, I might hesitate to decide right away. This is where we will deviate towards some of my country's history. My country got independent about 54 years ago. Since then there have been many leaders who have come and gone. There have been many times where political unrests have toppled governments in my country. This combined with the overall and low percentage of literacy, people are very susceptible to propaganda and different ideologies and beliefs which are tailor-made to serve different political parties and their agendas. Till now there has been no party that has devoutly worked in favor of the country and tried to make the country a better place. Everyone just made the illusion of development and filling up their pockets under the table. So yes, you can say corruption is rooted in every single department of state apparatus. But what's more sad is that there are a lot of people and these people are the majority, who do not see the problem because they are too blind to their political parties propaganda, they think that what their party does is the right way. These people almost never accept the fact that these parties are not the best solution for the country. And that is because all they care about is themselves. Speaking to a party gives you some sort of political leeway and opportunity to earn a lot more money in corrupted ways. So you can say for sure, a lot. Too many people have sold their souls.
In Batman, Ras al-gul used to say that Gotham was beyond saving. And Bruce Wayne always declined to believe that. He always believed that goddam could be saved. And here I am thinking that my country really cannot be saved. It is beyond repair. So yeah if I really had the money I might just run away and live my own life.
