Creative Sunday - Making Of BeanCake

in Hive Learners2 days ago

Happy Sunday Creators!

So today I want to write an article on how I made these nicely fried BeanCakes. It's a cultural food that most people like and you may see few people who doesn't really like it from my tribe.

The name Beancake originally depicts that it was made from beans but having been given an extension of cake may be what I might not really be able to explain but basically I can say it comes out in form of those baked cupcakes after been fried.

You know, in my culture we actually make use of beans for many kind of delicacies like Gbegiri (that is beans soup), moimoi (ehhh how do I name this one in English but it's a blended and cooked meal made from beans too. I might be posting on that some other day too), Akara (this Beancake of this article), Ekuru (Another peeled cooked beans with no salt or anything) etc.

So to make my Akara (Beancake), I have the following ingredients:

  • Beans
  • Groundnut Oil
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Onions
  • Maggi (Seasoning cubes)

I started by peeling off the beans in water, added pepper to it and grinded it at a grind mill shop down the street.

Following this, I had my onions sliced, I put part of the beans in a small bowl for seasoning mixing so that the rest of the mixed grinded beans doesn't get to be watery while taking time to fry.

I added the sliced onions, seasoning cube and salt then stir together so well with turning stick so that it won't sit to settle down in the oil but rise while frying (based on belief)

While doing this, my frying pan was on fire having Groundnut Oil in it so it can become hot, awaiting the arrival of the grinded beans. Then I get to use a small cup to put the grinded beans into the hot oil.

After which I wait for it to fry well enough for consumption and then pack them out of the oil.

This is the result of every fries I made which was tasteful and sumptuous. This can be taken with either pap, custard or what we call Eko (cooked grilled corn)
