Power Landed in Wrong Hands

in Hive Learners11 months ago

Doctor and armed forces are the professions that are supposed to provide ultimate support and comfort to the public. Empathy and compassion are expected of these professions.

Providing the best care to the customers and public is among their most primary teaching.

Nevertheless, the reality is quite different. (At least, in the world I live in). The hype of moral, ethical and final corruption has snatched the dignity and honour of these professions.

Among the most common wishes in my society, one is “May God protect everyone from the hospitals and the police.”

Lolz. In the past, the wish was limited to police, but in the recent times rangers and military are also added to the aforementioned prayer.

Lord Acton said “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Well, I have a different opinion about this saying. However, in case of armed forces’ condition in my country it deems fit. Actually, when power lends in unethical hands it brings nothing but corruption and destruction.

The injustice and unlawfulness have made these powerful people more corrupt. They have no fear of accountability or being punished for doing any wrong act. Consequently, they continue to make people's lives miserable and difficult.

Thankfully, I have personally never become a victim of any of them. (May God save us all). However, I have witnessed the happenings with others.

Let me share with you one of the cases that happened to a very close relative of mine.

It was a normal day. Nothing unusual had happened. Some uniformed men armed with guns and pistols invaded the house after dawn.

Without showing any search warrant, they turned the whole house upside down. Emptied the cupboards and storage trunks.

They entered the bedroom and arrested the guy (say Moiz) they wanted.

They put him in their mobile and took him with them.

Also, they took books, mobiles and CPU of his computer with them.

There was no clue where he was taken. There was neither any investigation report against him nor police station had his arrest proof. In other words, he was a missing person.

His family struggled hard to find some way to reach him but of no use.

They had no option but to wait for the force people to release him themselves.

After fifteen days, his brother got a phone call. He was told about a place and timing where he would receive the man.

The brother reached there and received him.

On his way back to him, he behaved a little strange as if he was not fully in his consciousness.

Anyways, they returned home safe.

At home something that was quite prominently noticeable in him was that he was keeping his eyes closed most of the time.

Instead of observing his surrounding with sight, he was detecting the environment by hearing.

The night was terrible. He started screaming and saying strange things that made no sense to anyone.

He was moving his limbs like as if he was fighting with someone. It became difficult to control him.

His brothers tried to calm him down but he was not in his senses. He even hit them.

The brothers took him to a hospital where some tranquillisers were given to him. They worked to give him some peace.

Though he didn’t have any serious attacks of craziness again yet he kept on yielding strange behaviours.

He would show anger for his youngest brother and said things like this brother was a pagan. Very unusual kind of attitude it was.

He also would say unusual and weird things in quite strange manner. Sometimes repeatedly doing or saying things like obsessions.

For several days, he kept his eyes closed most of the time. Even walked mostly with closed eyes.

It took him several days to become normal again.

What exactly had happened to him we never know. Nevertheless, there are a few things that he told to us.

Mostly, his eyes were tightly closed with black strips. It was a kind of black-out for him.

Some of the strange things that he would say had something to do with another prisoner kept with him.

The food that was given to him (and the prisoners) was not meant to satiate them but only enough to keep him (them) alive.

Now the question is why was he arrested at all?
The story is that he had a colleague whom he used to give lift on his bike to his way home.

That colleague of him was found involved in suspicious activities. When he was arrested, he told that Moiz had the armaments the rangers were looking for.

Consequently, they arrested Moiz suspecting him as a facilitator of terrorists.

When they were finally convinced of his innocence, they released him.

Whatever was the reason to arrest him, the way the rangers raided at his home is condemnable.

Which law on the earth makes it right to arrest anyone out of suspicion and make him a missing person.

The torture was not for the man alone but for his family too. His kids would kept on looking at the door waiting for their father.

Other family members had many other stresses to face in search of the lost member of their family.

The man lost his job too and had to look for a new one.

One lesson to learn from this story is that we should be very careful about people we are acquainted with. A wrong kind of acquaintance may cost us a huge price.

May God save us all from wrong friends and from the power landed in wrong hands.

It against the law to torture or detain a suspect but things are the other way around in the world today.

The people we depend for protection are the ones who hurt the people the most. It's so sad he had to be through all that despite being innocent. May God continue to keep us safe as you have said and that's the best prayer.

The people we depend for protection are the ones who hurt the people the most.

It's the irony of most of (if not all) the sub continental and african countries.

May God protect us all.

Hope you are doing well @george-dee 😊
